Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello all! I love Find-A-Grave. I have been able to trace many of my ancestors by this site. Most of the memorials that I add are my family. I have added a few that aren't. I will not transfer a family member to you unless they are not related to me and I will be glad to add any info that you may have.

I love genealogy. I have traced my family history since way before computers. Family Reunions, Postal Mail, Visiting Library's, History Books, Court House, Census, Family Bible, Family- Cousins, Grandparents, and Parents. After Internet arrived connecting with cousins we've been able to share much more easily. Find-A-Grave is a wonderful way to connect with those whom you either knew existed or had a wonderful surprise of learning you have more family out there!

My Family Ancestry includes Boggs, Davis, White, Smith, Hardway, Keener, Shock, LeMasters, Clendennin, Sharp, Anderson, Reid, Martin, Goldsborough, Green, Jarvis, Fisher, Rhodes, Dawson, Long, Sheetz, Mayo, Henley, Elza, Carr, Simmons, Moats, Orahood, Thompson, Brockman, Graham, Munsey, Copley, Brittain, Bond, Alexander, Bassett, Fuller, Peterson, Mohler, Hoffinger, and many others discovered and not yet discovered.

I thank all that have contacted me and hope we have more information to share!

I also invite anyone to ask for family history or would like to add so that we can continue to ‘fill in the blanks' so to speak.

Thank You for your time!

Brent Smith
Smith Relative
Hello Carolyn,
I was just following a cookie trail and came upon your name through a posting. I see that you are related to the Smith family. I am related to Sarah Elizabeth Garee Boggs' paternal grandmother, Sarah Smith Garee. She was a 1st cousin 6 times removed of mine. Sarah Garee's father, Timothy Smith, was my 5th Great Grand Uncle. I am a descendent of Anthony Smith, Timothy's brother.
I totally agree about Find A Grave. I have found so much information about my family heritage. I need every little nugget to help me narrow down the search when I am looking for such a common name as Smith. I would be more then happy to share information with you and help you fill in the blanks both ways.

thanks,
Brent Smith

Memorial for Phoebe Smith Kerns
Hi Carolyn,

Your memorial for Phoebe Kerns gives the name of her second husband as John Smith Kerns. I have not been able to prove that John S. Kerns' middle name was "Smith". Can you reference a record to that effect?

John S. Kerns was my great-great grandfather.

You are very welcome. Glad to share this cemetery. My uncle knew where it was and I asked him to take me to several of our family graveyards on Middle Mountain since he is one of the only ones in the family who knows exactly where they are. I was just curious as to how you are related to the Carrs and the people in this cemetery. John and Elizabeth Wyatt are my ggg grandparents and Ira Carr in this cemetery is my great grandfather's brother. two of my great uncles are also buried here as well as other family members. We may have discussed this before and I have forgotten. You may email me if you want to share info. I have been working alot on the Carr side of my family lately.

I will try to add William Keener with David. However I do not own the bio. so I need to get with the owner and let him know about it. Thanks for the info. You are such a sweetheart.

names have disappeared
Do you have any idea why names that were previously available in mckendree cemetery are now no longer listed? I had been able to view many more stones than are now available. Thank you Allison Moats

RE: French S Kerns Memorial #14088821
Thank you for confirming that French Kern's mother was indeed the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Smith. It seemed right, but I just couldn't verify for sure. As for Phoebe's death date. I have looked through my papers and I can't find a source. I do know that I had just added that date in recently and I'm pretty sure that I had found a death record for her, but I ended up saving a marriage record instead (I had like 10 browsers opened at once). I thought I had found it on the WV Division of Culture and History Website. Now it's going to drive me crazy and I will have to go back and look again. It was hard to find, I think there were only initials used but Andrew was the informant? It really is going to drive me crazy until I find it again. :)
And yes, please, I will take any and all sources you could provide. I do have most of the census records, I have done a little research on them, but haven't gone too extensive yet, so I would really appreciate all you could share. Thanks so much, Carolyn. And when I find that death info on Phoebe I will be sure to let you know

You're very welcome! I was really happy myself to find most of my husband's family in that cemetery. I just wish I'd been able to find a few more requested photos!

Hi Carolyn
Could you tell me who were the parents of your great-grandfather, Robert Lee Smith? You told me that he was a half-brother to French Kerns and I'm just trying to get a little more info on his parents
