My wife and I live about five miles outside Reading, Berks County, Pa. I try to visit most of the cemeteries in Reading and the southwest corner of Berks. I've also wandered into Eastern Lancaster and Lebanon county where some family members are buried. I've had an interest in geneaology since 2002. (probably longer, I just didn't know it yet.) Findagrave has not only peaked my interest in taking cemetery photos, but, also in discovering and walking cemeteries in this area that I never knew were there. Not only have I documented many of my ancestors, I have been taking as many photos as possible in the hopes of helping others find theirs. If you are a family member, I will gladly transfer your ancestor's memorial to you. |
Future generations will want to know what happened to their ancestors, and Findagrave is the best way to document them.
Whose grave are you going to find today?
(Find-A-Grave Policy on Transfers:
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations, this would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Please include your member number for a transfer.
I will always make corrections and add links when asked. Thanks!!

Hello, I looked to see how may Fink you have and I think we should trade info. Catherine Elizabeth Ely was the daughter of David Ely 1797 (Rev War) and Anna Elizabeth Schnepp, d/o Joseph Schnepp 1731
and his second wife Elizabeth. There are no graves listed anywhere for David and Anna but, there is quite a military record for him. I am from Joseph's first wife, they had 10 children and he had 4 daughters by Elizabeth. I have a hugh tree that I really would like to add children of the girls from Elizabeth. Do you think you can help me? Hope to hear from you.

Yes, I would like that. I am in no hurry. Sorry, I don't have a scanner to email. Thanks. Harriett
I have added info for memorial 74035110. His Mother and wife. I have photos for stones for these folks but don't have a way to get to findagrave except by mail. Can I do that? Or if someone wants to go and take the photos they are in Sec. B. Next to this memorial. Thanks. Harriett Worrell

I have been working on the relationships of George W. Scutt (my husband's grandfather) b. 1894, husband of the above for some time. He was married three times and was divorced from Joanna in 1931.
In the bio and relationship on Find a Grave, R. Naomi Scutt Large is listed as the mother of Der (Donald) Scutt. I don't think she was his mother - but stepmother.
As evidence, George and Naomi were issued a marriage license in September 1935 http://rwills.co.berks.pa.us/geneology/volpage.aspx?volume=111&page=191
George and Hazel were issued a marriage license in September 1931.
In Newspapers.com, Reading Times, 26 Oct 1934, page 35, there is an obituary for Helen Evelyn (Smith) Scutt. She was married to George and had a son. Her death certificate says she died of complication after a ceserian and this would be just days after Der was born. In the New York Times http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/16/arts/design/16scutt.html
it is stated he was the son of the "former Hazel Smith".
I think Naomi mothered him from a very young age, but was not his mother.
Do you think that could be mentioned?
Also, I can't find where Hazel Smith Scutt was buried. Any ideas?

Just wanted to let you know there is a duplicate ofg this persons memorial on Find A Grave ( I recently flfilled a photo request, that was how I discovered it) You seem to have more info on your memorial and it was made earlier, so you might want to speak with the current owner of the other to see about merging the info and deleteing one of them....just trying to be helpful. The other page number is 75623581
