|Adam Shahan||Know of a Delbert?|
Maybe you guys can help me. I want to make sure I have the right lineage.
-Charles Wesley Shahan
I think. I need to find out if Charles Wesley is my GGG Grandfather. My G Grandfathers first or middle name was Delbert, I don't know what his father's name was, but I know Charles had a son named Delbert that died when he was six and he was from WV which is where all my family is from.
If you can help that would be great, thanks.

Hi, sorry its been awhile been going through a divorce well enough on that I will try to explain. I am a direct descendant of Laura Emma Shahan. Laura's line travels as such:
Laura Emma Shahan- 2nd Great grandmother
Jonathan A Shahan-3rd maternal great grandfather
Jonathan Shahan-4th great grandfather
Jacob Shahan-5th great grandfather(*note the first direct descendant your husband and I share. Your husbands line travels through John O Shahan born 1814 died 1856. His wife Mary Burrows born 1815 died 1885. He was my 4th great grandfathers younger brother by 2 years. Continuing back:
Jonathan Shahan- 6th great grandfather
David Shahan- 7th great grandfather
Cornelius Shehane- 8th great grandfather- This brings us to the boat in 1679. Very old time frame for Irish immigrants most came in 1800's
Daniel Shehane- 9th great grandfather - born 1645 in Ireland believed to have died in St. Thomas Parish in Barbados.
Now from the split forward:
John Shahan- 1814-1856
Jacob Shahan- 1841-1911
George Shahan- 1879-1976
Elmer George Shahan
Now you might ask why the work. Several reason's trying to figure out what Shahan to who was a pain in the @#$. Due to the John, Jonathan's, David, George's, Jacob's as you can see in two generations there were two John and Jonathan's, I chased down these people using "real" records two divide the two modern John and Jonathan's as you can see they both married Mary's, not too mention a boat load of Sarah's, not to mention the many wifes they lost. My fourth great grandfather alone had three maybe even four wives, not because he was looking to compete with Elizabeth Taylor but because death was such a frequent visitor to the Shahan household as it was with all families back then. Thanks for Betty missed her in my tree as tracking girls sometimes is hard. Thanks for your work. My tree can be seen on ancestry.com available to all a public tree, of course all living people are protected.

... any info on the Dickersons of DE. My GGrandmother was Frances "Fannie" E. Dickerson (DOB abt 1867) from Smyrna DE, married to Charles K. Norris, also of Smynra (1st generation, his folks Robt & Martha A. immigrated from IRE). This couple married in 1886 in Philadelphia and had 3 children: Grace, Martha and Chas K, Jr. My grandmother was Martha and, as she moved to Detroit at a young age, we never really knew the Norrises, Dickersons & other lines there in PA. Fannie died about 1944 in Mapleshade, NJ where they'd retired a decade earlier. I have some records on the Norris side but absolutely nothing on Fannie outside what I have written here. Very sad and a big block wall for me. Hoping as you gave virtual flowers for John and that his birthday is just 2 years off my Fannie's date, that perhaps we are somehow connected and I might learn more of my Dickerson lines. Thank you for any feedback.
