I am a retired Master Chief Petty Officer, US Navy, and have been researching History and genealogy quite a few years. I have also been researching graves and graveyards for many years. I currently live in Pensacola, Florida, but travel occassionally around the Eastern US visiting family and searching for graves. My family history site is public on Ancestry.com. I am a genealogy Addict, and have a special affinity for Ulster County New York where I grew up, and for Essex County New York where my wife grew up.|

Coins on Military Markers
A coin left on a headstone lets the deceased soldiers family know that somebody stopped by to pay their respect. Leaving a penny means you visited. A nickel means that you and the deceased soldier trained at boot camp together. If you served with the soldier, you leave a dime. A quarter is very significant because it means that you were there when that soldier died.

|Elsie Scharpf Saar||Dates of birth|
I'm sorry but I don't accept dates of births calculated from tombstones. They are notoriously incorrect. If you send a date, please send the source of that date and I will consider it. Thank you.

|Elsie Scharpf Saar||Old Dutch Churchyard|
I fully photographed every available headstone in this graveyard in 2007. There may be some in the cellar of the church that I did not see.
There was another cemetery in Kingston, the Old Hotaling cemetery on Pine Street. It contained many, many more graves than the Old Dutch Churchyard. Rumor has it that those graves were moved to the Old Dutch Churchyard. That cannot be, there was no room. I have found no proof of the move. I had listed the Old Hotaling graveyard on Find A Grave twice, initially when I found the listing, and a second time after someone combined the listing with the Old Dutch Churchyard. Now, as you said, new listings are occurring on the ODC. The Old Hotaling cemetery has been deleted from Find A Grave. I cannot do any more.
I am from Kingston and saw the old Hotaling cemetery in my youth. Believe me, there might be 7 stones in the ODC from there but not all 300.
You are certainly correct in your doubt.

I went ahead and put the memorial on for Levi and his father David in the Ingalls cemetery. I cannot find my photos for Levi but I did put Davids on. David is my husbands GGGG granfather.

|TJohnson||Levi Dudley burial plot|
Hi I just wanted to message you and maybe correct where you think Levi Dudley is buried. I have been researching the Dudley family and have traveled to Keene NY. Both Levi and his father David are buried in the Ingalls cemetery in Keene NY. It is a small family cemetery but there are quite a few Dudleys there. It is not listed on Findagrave yet but my husband and I have visited the site and can verify that they are there. We also visited the Norton cemetery and there many Dudleys buried there. We have been given a lot of info of many small cemeteries in the area that are not listed yet on this site. Just wanted to clear that up for you.
