|I have been a genealogist for the great majority of my life and am amazed by the power and richness of Find A Grave. It is an honor to contribute.|
I manage Find A Grave accounts as a volunteer for several historical organizations. This account is reserved for my own blood relatives and their spouses. Some remarkable volunteers created a number of these and have graciously transferred them to my care. The contributors I have listed as "friends" have my special thanks for the their volunteer work and their many kindnesses. I am simply in awe of Wayne Irons, Scott Balyer and Carol Foss in particular.
My Find-A-Grave Philosophy
I believe we are put on this planet to give of ourselves, as we can, to the people around us and the strangers we meet. In the interest of accuracy and fostering appreciation of our ancestors, we should share information with our kin and the public as much as possible. If our ultimate purpose is not to disseminate what we have learned, then we are just navel-gazing.
Acts of genealogical kindness always come back in kind--one way or another. It might not be direct or immediate; but I have found this "pay it forward" principle to be true time and again as a researcher.
I also believe graves and the memory of our ancestors are sacred things, and foremost the responsibility of family. We are commanded to honor our mothers and fathers. And it is a blessing for ourselves, as well, when we help others to do this.
I welcome contact about any of my families, and hope the information I have posted is of help to you. I don't post my personal email address publicly. If you want to contact me, please leave a public message or join Find A Grave and send a message through the edit function at one of my memorials. I will respond as promptly as I can. I am always glad to meet new cousins, or reconnect with old ones.
Why Do I Ask About Possible Transfer?
Every day I send out multiple edit requests and links in order to improve the data in Find A Grave. If I can add substantial information to a memorial, I sometimes inquire as to whether its creator would consider transferring (if he/she is not related, of course). The reason I do this is simple: I have dedicated most of my life to promoting scholarship in genealogy and the use of archival sources. If someone submits an edit or a link to a memorial that I manage, I analyze the information and research the documentation before accepting it. Hopefully, unrelated persons managing memorials I am interested in will do the same. However, I know this is not always the case and, as a result, I find that incorrect edits and links are sometimes accepted by members.
Please do not take offense by my inquiring. I am always glad to contribute to others' memorials as well. Most likely, though, I will not contribute biographical notes if the person who maintains the memorial is unrelated and therefore unlikely to retain the source data.
My Virtual Cemeteries, etc.
You will see that I have built over 100 virtual cemeteries. I hope you will check them out--especially if you are descended from one of my ancestral families.
Please do visit my virtual cemetery of direct ancestors before requesting a transfer. If you are more closely related to one of my ancestral aunts, uncles or cousins and your request is within Find A Grave guidelines, I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you if you will explain your connection.
If your request is outside Find A Grave guidelines (i.e., the person is not your close relative), I will be glad to consider transfer if you will explain your connection in detail and let me know how you will build out the memorial. Again, the memorials attached to this account are my own blood relatives or their spouses, with only a few exceptions. Linking children or getting children linked to your (our) relative, and sponsoring the memorial, are good indicators that you are committed to improving the data and caring for the memorial.
If you are a direct descendant of any of my ancestors, I will gladly add a link to your profile from that memorial noting that you are also a descendant--just ask. (Or add a flowers note explaining your connection.)

|Jerry Stockton||Richard Stockton|
I show the following for Richard "The Emigrant" Stockton:
1706 Jan 25 - Will of Richard Stockton
1707 Feb 21 - Inventory of Richard Stockton's estate
1707 Sep 25 - Richard Stockton died
1707 Oct 10 - Will of Richard Stockton proved
Clearly one or more of these dates are wrong. IF - the inventory date is correct, and Richard Stockton died before 21 Feb 1707, then his will was not proved for over 7 months. That is something I have not seen before. I want to get Richard Stockton's information correct. Any thoughts?
|Maureen||First Presbyterian vs. Old Colonial|
Thanks for getting back to me on Enos Freeman's family. If they are indeed in Old Colonial, it would explain why I have not found them in First Pres! Have you had the opportunity to ever see Old Colonial? It is a very old cemetery...you feel like you have stepped into a time-warp going in there! I'm not sure when they stopped interring there and began at First Pres, which is literally right up the road. Perhaps when they built the church.
If you'd care to contact me via my e-mail address, I'd be happy to send you some general pix of the cemetery. I don't know if I have any of your Freemans in my archives but I will look!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I just made the changes you suggested for her. Thanks for this and all your contributions.
Just checking in to see if you are sure that Enos Freeman, his wife and children are really buried in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Metuchen, NJ. I have been photographing all of the stones there as a project for the church and do not see Enos or his family listed on the interment record. It is possible it is an office error, but I wanted to check with you first.

I just looked and they don't have memorials. If you email me at majorfuzzynavel at yahoo.com i can give you a little background info because i did a little research at the time.

I've transferred Mary Norton to you. I seem to remember her parents and an infant sibling being buried alongside her so if you'd like them transferred as well, let me know.

|Jo Ann Hudson||RE: Campbell-Bell Descendants|
Thank you, Joe! Glad you liked the photos. For right now, I am leaving it in your hands (like you don't have enough to do, yikes). I feel that at some point connections may stray into the Butlers and the Hudsons that are not in the Campbell-Bell bloodline. If that starts happening, hopefully I will have the "hang" of this process and be able to maintain it myself. I will be retiring (sort of) sometime in the spring of 2015, so I should have more time to enjoy doing this. My best to you!
|Sunset||Coffins & Cornells|
Per your request ai will transfer the other relatives to you as well. All I ask is that you do leave my name on the photos. (Some other member has taken credit for Mary & Gardiner's and another unrelated photo as well and I don't like that).

|Mike Maxwell||Hope (West) Hammell,|
Thanks for your input. I have modified Hope's info in Samuel Nutt's memorial to reflect this.
Thank you for the edits on Velina's page. As a relative, you should be able to manage her page so I've transferred management to you. I love managing my own family's pages :)
