I find it quite satisfying to celebrate the memory of those we try to document with photos and family history on the findagrave site. I started tracing my family ancestry a few year ago. My family ancestors settled the Carroll County, Georgia area in the 1820s & 1830s. I have found it very interesting to see the paths cross many times as both my maternal and paternal ancestors migrated from Maryland and Virginia to this area. My ancestors consist of Sharp, Spence, Muse, West, Hubbard, Moore, Shadinger, and McLendon families. I have found through my travels to various cemeteries that the departed have a story to share about their past, if we only take the time to observe.|

Do you know of a cemetery at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Alvaton?

Look on John T Sims or probably William Sanders Sims (I still get the names confused) -- typed one document and added to bio. Have some info on McLendon family because of my mom having grown up there and knew everyone (family) who was alive after 1925.
Also, found an obit for Nellie Huckaby McLendon that mom had wife of John H McLendon Jr.

Omar and Beulah are my paternal grandparents. I have visited their graves for many, many years; the last time was for Fairview's memorial day on the first sunday in May, 2014.
My 5th great grandmother was Nancy McClendon 1764 - 1979. Her parents were Jacob McClenton Sr. 1715-1793 and Martha Travis McClendon 1730 - 1827. His parents were Thomas McClendon Sr., 1690- 1758 and Elizabeth Bush McClendon 16392- 1731.
