I am retired and living with my wife of over 57 years on the western shores of Lake Whitney in Texas. I have been interested in genealogy for many years but am not a professional. :-) It is a hobby in my old age.
My paternal lines include: SVACH, HAJEK, DRDLA, RICHTEROVA, and MATEJKOVA among others.
My maternal lines include: LESOVSKY, SHIPEK, SIPEK, KALIVODA, KOCIANOVA, and HREJSOVA among others.
I served in the US Navy from 1950-1954 as an Electronics Technician. I have a BS Degree from University of Illinois in Engineering Physics and a MS Degree from University of Texas at Dallas in Management Information Systems (computers). I also am a radio amateur operator with a call sign: N5VFO. In addition to computers, researching and surveying cemeteries has become my #1 hobby.
Recently, I have been tutoring a workshop for our county genealogical society in the use of Family Tree Maker. But, I also have been talking a lot about the value and virtue of www.FindaGrave.com as a resource and very worthwhile project for the folks to volunteer their time, if nothing more than including their own next of kin in the web site.
My current title with the Bosque County Historical Commission is Chairman of the Cemetery Committee. I also serve as the Treasurer of the Bosque County Genealogical Society.
