I have now been back in Colorado for a couple of years but I am still dreaming of waterways, bridges, moss covered trees, and yes the rain. I don't know if I will ever get use to the snow but I am told we need the snow for the water levels during the summer. I am unsure of the numbers but I believe rain works better and it doesn't require a shovel. |
I have been lucky enough to connect with family and friends. While in Oregon I had some great Colorado volunteers that helped me with my family's stones and have had the pleasure of meeting and working with them in Colorado and meeting new ones along the way.
I have had quite a couple of years, babies born; friends & family that have passed; reconnected with friends from high school; getting to know my granddaughter, and I have had two surgeries.
I have been working a number of cemeteries trying to help family find family and over the last three years have heard some of the saddest and happiest stories from family that were so happy I helped them locate a missing loved one. I still get surprised when someone mentions the number of memorials I have loaded or the number of photo requests I have completed. I do this for you and the numbers mean nothing. If I was somehow able to help one of you during the day find an aunt, uncle, sibling, grandparent, parent, or childhood friend – it is you that has given me a reason to smile that day and continue on with what I do.
Also, I believe in transferring memorials to family no matter how many generations removed. I believe the four generation rule is used for hoarders that are interested in numbers and just want to keep your family. One of my pet peeves is people taking over or starting memorials that do not know how or have any intention of maintaining the site. I feel the family belongs to the family but should be with a family member that is going to insure that links and edits are going to be taken care of in a timely manner.
I do not transfer to non family – I volunteer my time for the family and that is where I want them to end up. I am impressed and grateful that there are people who take time to work on groups and any editing you require or photos you need – I am your girl but NO I don't transfer to non family.

I want to say thank you for your time going out to the cemetery and taking the pictures of the unmarked graves of Charles and Dorothy Shunk. Charles is a distant cousin on my paternal grandfather's side of the family. Now I need to figure out if Dorothy is one of Charles daughter. Thanks again for doing this and have a good weekend!

Thank you for your prompt reply to my photo request. It has helped answer my research questions. It never ceases to amaze me how well findagrave works because of the generosity and good will of volunteers like you. Best wishes SuzanneA
Thanks very much for the photos of Louis & Rose Goodman.

I am a distant relative of the painter Vincent van Gogh. In 2009 I created a Memorial for H.J. Eerligh van Gogh, who died in 1886, not knowing where he was buried (and several Memorials for his parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and other relatives. Now I saw that you found his grave and made a new Memorial , his name spelled 'VanGogh'.
I would appreciate it very much if you transfer that one to me (including the photo by Linda Jenkins Werts).

Thank you so much for taking the photos - AND making a text on the picture where Harreit was buried due to no stone. That's a very helpful and kind gesture you did. Please keep up your great work!
