Bio Photo Being a member of my hometown's Historical Society and a genealogist both got me started photographing and transcribing cemeteries. Well, that and the fact that I love cemeteries! They're a great combination of nature and history, places to be quiet and alone, and yet not feel alone. I'm currently working on my hometown's cemeteries and, when I get the chance, several in Vermont where my ancestors and relatives are buried.

Samuel Woodruff
Just a note that Samuel Woodruff did not die in Andersonville, as Andersonville did not
open until February 1864. He died while his regiment was encamped near Portsmouth,
Virginia. I have a letter from Lyman Wilcox who was in the regiment with him, where he
mentions attending Samuel's funeral.

REPLY TO YOUR NOTE: IT IS IN THE BOOK, IT MUST BE A TYPO. CAN I GET A PICTURE COPY OF THE LETTER THAT YOU TALKED ABOUT. THX FOR ALL YOUR HELP. JAMES ROGERS.

RE: George and Susan Arthur
Thank you very much for the care you have given to create, photograph, and maintain all the memorials that you do.

I have updated the dates for George and Susan. One child was Sarah Jane (#42986707). The other three I know of from family records, but can't find more about yet, are Fanny R. (1865-?), George T. (1871-?), and Caroline (1874-?).

I will add more when I know more, and I will definitely let you know. Please keep me in mind if you find out more, too!

Thanks again. :)

RE: Graziano and Albina Delvecchio Graves
Deacon Edward Wilcox's grandfather was Selah Savage, my daughter's sixth great-grandfather, and his great-great grandfather was Daniel Wilcox (my daughter's eight great-grandfather), who donated the land for the establishment of the Wilcox Cemetery. If you are interested, I have a letter from Orrin Savage (my daughter's fifth great uncle) to Edward Wilcox, his cousin, who with his brother Henry moved to Alabama in the early 1840's and established themselves as merchants, trading with their families - the Yankee peddlars in CT. The two brothers both served in the Confederacy, while their cousins served in the Union. They remained close nonetheless, and the Berlin names of Hart, Beckley, Dowd, and Wilcox among others have been carried down in their children's and other descendents' names throughout the South and the country. Orrin Savage's wife was Sarah Ann Hart (one of many Hart's who were teachers), and her half great-aunt was Emma Hart Willard who founded the Troy Seminary for women. This southern history appears to be a little known part of Berlin history which needs to be told.

I assume you live on Savage Hill...

If you wish a copy of the letter, please send your e-mail address. Mine is pagini@charter.net .

Graziano and Albina Delvecchio Graves
Lisa -

Thanks very much for obtaining the photos of my great aunt and uncle! I remember them fondly. Five of Graziano's nephews / neices are still living in Italy - my wife and I just visited them in September.
