I began researching my family history in 2012 in a quest for dual citizenship from my mother's side. We were officially recognized as Italian citizens in October 2014. On my father's side, I have researched our roots back to the original founders and landowners in New Haven. In 2013, I was initiated into the Lucretia Shaw Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 2014, I became a Charter member of the Fort Saybrook Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and a member of the National Daughters of 1812. I am Chartering the first CT Chapter of the Daughters of the Union in 2015. I am a member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists and the Connecticut Professional Genealogical Council. I love doing family research and also enjoy helping others delve into their family history.|

Hi, it looks like there was another volunteer in the cemetery yesterday - we must have just missed each other. I am glad she was able to find Isaac J. and Elizabeth.

I had the wrong Isaac, you might have tried to log on while I was in the middle of correcting myself and adding the new Isaac. Looks as if there was an Isaac N as well.

Thank you for the info for Peter Weed. Took the picture because his stone is starting to be overtaken by a weed/vine/bush. Check out Ruzzo 33903327 & 117355853 taken in Sept. Also Violanto 104646168 taken in Feb to see what it looks like.

Our families mostly came later. The Fisks came from NHampshire and the Footes came from Hadley, MA, then Wethersfield. Not sure about the Bassetts. My husband is also related to the Atwaters somehow. His family stayed in New Haven, North Haven and Hamden too, right up until a couple of years ago when the last two moved to Florida. His surname is Wolf, the others were Simes (Sims). On a side note, my Dad went to Yale and was very interested in the history of New Haven so I spent a lot of time there as a kid. Very familiar with the campus and Grove Street cemetery.

I see your dad's roots go back to New Haven. My husband's paternal g-grandmother was a Fisk. One of the Fisks married a Bassett. My father was a Foote out of Wethersfield. Any connections there? Happy hunting.

Richard and I were very happy to help you connect with family, even in this small way...having spent more than 25 yrs on the family tree, we know the frustration of families being so very far apart.

On second look, this memorial was added to Indian River cemetery by Irma. I personally would trust her documentation for this memorial.
