|I started out just responding to photo requests for Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. The cemetery was established by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in 1904. |
I found myself walking up and down the same rows over and over hunting names. I then decided I would take a certain section, record the names, come home and check to see if they were listed. If not, I would go back and get a picture.
Then I found out that Jackson County Genealogical Society published a book in 1997, with the cemetery assisting with information, which I could purchase.
So now I am taking a section at a time and in some cases re-doing my photos.
I am happy to transfer memorials to family; just let me know. Plus, my photos are for public use should you wish to copy them.

No I am not a relative. I am just trying to update some of the memorials that have been put on earlier. It seems to be a hobby of mine. Surely hope you don't mind.

Would you add Patrick's parents to his relationships? His parents are Luke (#60926380) and Mary (#60926381). One of Patrick's brothers was my great uncle. I'm trying to get everyone tied in together.

Thanks for the transfer, Martha. I don't think to look in my FindAGrave messages, so I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply.
Independence obituaries are not online; I got George's from the Midwest Genealogy Center which has many years of them on microfilm. MGC does have the Kansas City Star online from about 1991 on - it is one of the online databases that Mid-Continent Public Library subscribes to.
|Rebekah Billings||James McCoy, Great Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery|
I have received your edit submissions, but wanted to let you know that I am holding off on adding dates. I am descended from the James McCoy you refer to, but I am not convinced this is the same man. I started looking into this cemetery because I have seen some different stories that say he is buried here, and I created the memorial from a list put together by another researcher who had visited the cemetery, but the information they listed did not include dates for James(which they usually include if available). I have requested a photo, but a volunteer stated they had searched the entire cemetery without finding the headstone. (He said many stones were illegible). I have also read somewhere that his wife might be buried here, but my cemetery listing did not include her name. It might be an error, but probably the biggest thing that makes me hesitate to say this is my grandfather is that the grave supposedly has a marker showing he fought in the War of 1812, after my grandfather's death. Perhaps you have some evidence I have not seen that would prove who this James is. If so, I would love to hear what you've found! I look forward to any further info. you might have to share.

Thank you for posting my grandma Joyce King on here. I am hoping with your info that I will be able to find her resting place. Since have not been there since the day we placed her there
Thank you for photgraphing his headstone. I was also able to locate his obituary via Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, MO. If I email it to you would you post it as well?
A distant relative
