My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.|
If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.

When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.
I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.
We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.
Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

|Greg Adams||RE: Rev. Rufus M. WITT|
Thank you Vickie. I appreciate your quick response. Sorry I troubled you. It's nice that you help others with their family research. I live so far away that it's difficult for me to gather information and I'm always hoping for individuals, like yourself, to assist me. I will take what you've provided me and research it.
Again, Thank You,
|Greg Adams||Rev. Rufus M. WITT|
Was wondering if you were related to Rufus M. WITT? He's my g-g-grandfather and I'd like to share information about the WITT family.

I was wondering if you would transfer ownership of Barbara to me please. My mother and Barbara were first cousins.

|Ruth ||Pearl McCall Bates|
I already had Virgil Bates linked to his mother. After receiving your request, I did some research and found that there are two memorials for Pearl McCall Bates. From what I discovered, the memorial that was created first was placed in the wrong cemetery, but was later moved to the proper cemetery. The memorial that Virgil is linked to has a photo of the headstone, etc. I decided the best thing to do is contact Find A Grave and have them merge the two memorials. Once that is done, all of the links should be in place, etc.
I wanted you to know the circumstances of this case. I will contact Find A Grave and request that the two memorials be merged.

|C. Fairchild||Frances May Belle Pilkenton Sanders Greene|
From Find A Grave member Vickie Oates Woods:
This information that you gave me has confused me.
I am a Fairchild and I do not find any confirmation of Rufus Phillips or Josephine Fairchild that would be her parents.
If this is taken from a death certificate, I know that sometimes people think they know the parents and they don't. Please check ancestry for the information I've posted. If you have further information that proves me wrong, I'm happy to change my information.
