Bio

I am a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Champion Hill, Camp 17. Please see memorial number 54203625.

I was raised in Clear Creek Township, Huntington County, Indiana. I have been gathering information on the Eckman, Fine, Hoover, Lahr, Miller, Shultz, Sloniker, Titus, Young, Whitestine, and Winebrenner families since the early 1980s.

My sincere thanks goes to contributor Andy Gappa who graciously agreed to assume the management of the memorials I created in northwest Indiana and to contributor OPPSheryl who graciously agreed to assume the management of the memorials I created in northeast Indiana.

I will continue to manage memorials I created for relatives and friends.

TRANSFERS: Please request transfers by using the memorial's Edit tab and the "Suggest other corrections" link. Your RELATIONSHIP to the person involved MUST be included in the transfer request. I will NOT honor transfer requests made using the message system.

Memorials are transferred for relatives with these close relationships: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships.

MESSAGES: If you send me a message about a specific memorial, please be sure to include the memorial number in the subject line of the message or somewhere within the content of your message.

OBITUARIES: Find A Grave guidelines say to use obituaries ". . . with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people. . . ."

Anything that was published in the United States on/before 1927 is now in the public domain. Anything published after 1927 is in question in terms of copyright and I may choose not to add more recent obituary information to the Bio field. Any information sent for inclusion in the Bio field must not include the names of living persons. I'm sorry, but I do not have the time to research the names of survivors in an obituary to see if they are still living or not.

Please do not add photos of obituaries to my memorials unless they meet the copyright date requirements (published before 1927). If you do post an eligible obituary photo (or any other non-gravestone photo), please choose the correct photo category before confirming the upload.

PHOTO CREDIT: You may use the gravestone photos that I have posted to memorials if you will cite this source statement: "This photo was taken by and posted to a Find A Grave memorial by Indiana Bill". Failing to cite the photo source misleads others into believing that you were the photographer. Please do not use any of my person or family photos on any website without first asking my permission to do so.

PHOTO QUALITY: Please do not post an updated gravestone photo to any of my memorials unless the photo is significantly better in quality or updates the information engraved on the stone (death date, etc.). I have taken and discarded many gravestone photos as they were not improvements to photos previously posted and ask that you do the same. I do post updated photos to memorials where I believe the photo quality is significantly better or the engraved information is more current. I will, however, remove any gravestone photo at the request of the memorial manager.

FLOWERS: Find A Grave guidelines specifically state that biographic and obituary information should not be included in Flowers.

ADDITIONS and CORRECTIONS: Updating names, dates, places, and parent/spouse links, etc. is now easier than ever under the new edit system. Before sending an edit for any of these items, however, please double-check your research to be sure that the information you are sending is accurate. If you do not have reliable sources that confirm the data, please don't send the edit.

DUPLICATE MEMORIALS: I make every effort to avoid duplicating memorials and to provide accurate data in my memorials. If you spot a duplication, please notify me of the duplication by using the "Suggest other corrections" link on the Edit page. You may report duplications to Find A Grave yourself, if you wish, by using the "Report duplicate memorials" link on the Edit page.
