I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc! NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing.
It is good to remember the following when on burial grounds:
"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown | |

 | RE: Jacob Fite's grave Thank you for your help. I try to keep flags on the Veteran graves in my family. My SOCV let me have Confederate flags for Burrell Haywood Fite and WO Glover his son in law. I am going to try flowers on Barbary Fite's grave amd see if they last. God Bless

 | Jacob Fite's grave Is the grave near King Peter Fite which is his son? I found the row with his father Peter and wife Barbary Fite. There are lots of other Fites. Goshen is looking worse in the last year. many Fite stones are down and multistone monuments are in piles. Thank you for your help. Jacob was a Waro of 1812 Veteran and I am in the War of 1812 Society and the DAR. John Glen is buried there close to the Fites. I live in Gastonia too. I may have to contact you again if I cannot find it. Thanks for your help. Treena Millen Ruotanen | | | Pat Fite
 | Tombstone of Jacob Fite Hi Richard, thanks for the pictures. May I use it on my Ancestry family tree? I live in Pearland, TX which is about 30 miles south of Houston. We just moved here from Houston in December.
Would you be willing to transfer this memorial to me? As I think that I said this is my husband's gggggrandfather.
I probably will not be making any trips to North Carolina.

 | Tombstone of Jacob Fite I am interested in your picture of the tombstone of Jacob Fite died 1846. Do you know when you took this picture and whether the tombstone is still standing. I was there in 2003 and did not find the tombstone. Jacob is the ggggrandfather of my husband. We are also interested in finding the tombstone of Jacob's wife Nancy Wells Fite b 1785 d 1870. I would think that she would be buried near Jacob, but she did die 25 years later.
There is a person in North Carolina who is trying to American flags on all the Fite, Glenn, Glover, and Armstong families on July 4. She is also trying to organize some people to clean up the cemetery. Her name is Treena Ruotanen (tyruotanen@aol.com).
I realize you probably do not live close to Gaston County, NC, but any information that you could give us might help us to find where his grave is located.
