Bio and Links
Bio Photo It seems no matter where my family lived growing up we always lived within walking distance of a very old small cemetery. I grew up taking many walks through the cemeteries and reading the enscriptions on the old headstones and wondering what thier lives were like. So when I found this website I thought it was GREAT! I became a find a grave volunteer photographer and really enjoy traveling to all of the cemeteries around Iowa. I don't think many people are aware of the different kinds of unusual cemeteries there are out there! A little about what I do when I get a photo request: I first look to see if there are many in that cemetery listed on find a grave and I print out the list if it isn't very long. Then I go and take photos of not only the one requested but also of any others listed for that cemetery that do not yet have a gravestone listed. I will post the photo. If I have posted one on one of your ancestors and you don't want it there please just let me know and I will remove it! Also I take any photos of head stones with the same last name of the person requested and send them to the requestor if they are not listed on find a grave. The reason I do this is maybe the requestor doesn't know their ancestor is buried in that cemetery or they haven't gotten around to posting that person yet. This way they will have the photo when they decide to post them. Also if I have posted a photo of a headstone on your site please be sure to click on the photo because I always write down what the headstone says. Sometimes a given name might be spelled differently or the dates might be different from what the person has posted. And I will post what ever scripture might be on the stone that I can make out.

RE: John Sousley
She is my husbands grandma's mom and was killed when his grandma was 2. I don't know much more then she was from Strawberry Point. If you do happen back there & find her I would appreciate it a lot. If not, don't worry about it. Thanks for all that you have done.

Greetings, Thank you for your work and postings! May I request permission to use the headstone photo from Nathaniel Lucas, memorial 67422309, for my personal (and private) family tree? I am related. Many thanks,
Steve

Thank you SO much for Rachel Burnett Bowen's headstone picture. She is from my paternal grandfather's side and was married to a Mayflower ancestor. So glad shehas a home in Iowa.

Thank you for your efforts.

Thank you for another great photo. I really appreciate you going to the cemetery to take the photos I requested. Some day I hope to make it to Iowa to walk the areas where my ancestors walked, but until then it's great to see their final resting place. THANK YOU!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PHOTO! I think it should be kept with the memorial, even though his name is not noted. Lousia was his older sister. I really appreciate your time and consideration of this. Thank you for noting on the photo the information on your photo.

RE: Pioneer Methodist Cemetery
I didn't get a chance to stop yesterday and today I have to work late so I won't be able to stop. I'll try to stop in the next couple of days there aren't that many stones that are legible maybe 30 so I'll just take pics of all of them and get them posted online. Might be a good weekend project.

Pioneer Methodist Cemetery
I searched the cemetery today for a headstone for Barbara McFall but was unable to locate it or ant McFalls in that cemetery. Unfortunately the cemetery has a lot of partial headstones and markers. Sorry I was unable to help you.
