"We are who we are because they were who they were" (unknown). I have been interested in my family history for many years. After retiring from teaching, I have been able to pursue solving the mysteries and following the paths of those who have come before us. Burleighs, Burns, Bakers, Hastings, in Indiana and Cheney, Mason, McWilliams, Lindseys in Iowa are our primary families. For the past year or so I have tried to fulfill requests in the Morgan County Indiana area on Find a Grave to pay it forward for all those who have done that for my family in Iowa.|
If I have added one of your family members, I will be happy to transfer it to you on request.

Thanks, Linda, for the date correction. Just a slip of the finger but so very important. Glad you caught it. Hope you felt your trip to the Slaughter Cemetery was well worth it. Did not know there were so many missed stones. Thanks, again.

Have not heard if anyone probed for stones after your cleanup and photography? I got a nice note from Elder John Brown's descendent appreciative of your and my work. He had been looking in Owen County last summer for John Brown. The cemetery is so close to the Owen County line that the original submitter for the cemetery had mistakenly located it in Owen County. Also had two people send me photos of my 4x great grandfather David Gray which I had never seen. Paying it forward is paying off! Thank you again for all your work.

Thanks a lot for looking. I think I will remove the request since that cemetery is very small and you've looked twice. It's likely unmarked. As it happens this particular Hallie was a he and not a she. My grandma was named Hallie and I have a niece named Hallie; it's usually a woman's name. Hallie Kemp is the only male Hallie I've run across. Thanks again.
