Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am Harla Jean Bateman Wallace "Jean", daughter of Harley Dean Bateman and Ruth Green Bateman. I was born in 1941 in Abilene, TX, Taylor Co. and married Billy Dan Wallace "Bill" (born in 1938) in 1958. We have a son, Curtis Lee "Curt" (1959) and a daughter, Janet Maurine "Jan" (1963). They are both married and each have a daughter and a son which gives us 4 beautiful grandchildren. Our oldest grandchild married in 2006 and now we have a wonderful grandson-in-law to add to our family.
Bill and I have been doing our family history research for about 20+ years and usually do our own families but at times we help each other with theirs too. For the most part, we enjoy genealogy but then there are those infernal "brick walls" now and then. If you are visiting my part of this site and see some information in it that you know is wrong or you can add to, please contact me by e-mail. I would appreciate any help any one can give me.
If I find an obituary in the newspaper that has good information in it I will add it in because although I don't know those people I think it is good to add it for those who need that info. I don't do it for the numbers. I hate this numbers system. If I have added someone you need and can prove close relationship to, I will be glad to add whatever info you want added or even transfer it to you.
Jean Wallace

Calvin McDonald obituary
Thank you for posting an obituary to memorial # 8531198. I was curious if he was a relation and your posting that obituary years ago helped answer that question quickly. I appreciate you taking the time to do that...

Candis "Candy" Elizabeth Puckett
Jean, you asked if anyone had any information on this person since she was Jacob Milton Simms' first wife.

She was born 25 Dec 1847 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. She married Jacob on 15 Jan 1868.

This information was handed down to me through family sources so it is only as accurate as what was handed down.

I have information on all 14 of George and Martha's children. I also have information on George Puckett's first wife, Elenorah Von Hooser and their children if you are interested. It is not 100% complete but I have some.

Have removed my memorial for Mr. Woolley... I had taken my info for his memorial from his Texas Death Certificate.

RE: Lt. Basil M. Woolley, Jr.
You're very welcome. I just received a regimental history of the unit he served with in the mail yesterday and will see if I can find any further references to him.

Judy Mayo
Hello from Judy Mayo
Hi Jean,

I'm John Jay Oxford's granddaughter. I'm looking for information about Mary Ann Jackson Oxford who married Brinkley Oxford in 1853. Her father was James Jackson, b about 1804. James Jackson and family moved from St. Clair, IL to Hopkins Co TX sometime after 1850 (US Census). James was born in either Kentucky or Tennessee. There is some beliefs that James Jackson's father (maybe Robert Jackson) was a brother of President Andrew Jackson's father (also named Andrew Jackson, Sr). I have not been able to make that connection or to be sure who is James Jackson's father. Andrew Jackson Sr and Robert Jackson both were born in Ireland and died in the US. My family lore has always said that we were distant cousins of Andrew Jackson and I would like to see if that is correct. I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!

Jean, that's really neat. Thanks for sharing. We have heard there is a ghost at the Weather Bureau perhaps? If a weather bureau chief who fell down the stairs and broke his neck? Have you heard that?

Susannah Hastings
Jean, I went to Hastings Camp Ground Cemetery to make a picture for myself, but had also looked to see what photo requests there were for others. I found your two requests, was able to make a picture of Susannah's headstone but couldn't find Willis Hastings'. The cemetery is now "New Hope Cemetery" and I have also posted a picture of that sign on Susannah's memorial. If you want the new name removed, please advise. You may (or may not) want to change the cemetery name on your memorials and/or notify F.A.G. to merge the two cemeteries.
