Memorial #122648518 This Grover Cleveland Staton is not the father of Curtis Larry Staton
There appears to be an error in connecting Curtis Larry Staton to his father Grover Staton(I have found no records with his middle name listed). Curtis's father was born 29 SEP 1913 in Road Fork, Pike County, Kentucky and died 8 SEPTEMBER 1979 in Pike County, Kentucky.
This information is from Curtis L Staton
birth record: 14 Aug 1940
Birth Place Pike, Kentucky, USA
Mother's Name Opal Murphy (my 3rd cousin 1x removed)

*Note: several of the census records have the last name misspelled as Staten but vital records have the correct spelling of Staton.

The following is from the 1940 Census Record
Name Grover Staten
Age 27
Estimated Birth Year abt 1913
Gender Male
Race White
Birthplace Kentucky
Marital Status Married
Pike, Kentucky
Street Toler Branch

Household Members
Name Age
Grover Staten 27
Opal Staten 27
Irvin Staten 4

I am currently working on this branch of my Murphy tree(I have 2)and have not found a Find A Grave memorial for either Grover or Irene Murphy Staton.

RE: John R. Thurman duplicate
Cenotaph is a new term to me. Yes, I know he was buried in the Smith (aka Smith-Nourse-Yontz) Cemetery at Paradise where I have him listed. The picture I posted is of the stone there. When Aunt Nell died they buried her in Rose Hill and marked the stone for her and "in memory" of Uncle John. I'm thinking a younger generation buried Aunt Nell but wanted to tie her to her husband who died many years before. Can you please tie them together as you have suggested. And I'll thank you for it!

John R. Thurman duplicate
Good morning, friend. Need your help. We have a duplicate. My uncle John R. Thurman (#125798737 and #38907734) is listed twice on my Aunt Nell Thurman (his wife) (#39124671). He died in 1937 and is buried in the Smith Cemetery in Paradise. When his wife Nell died many years later she was buried in Rose Hill and the family placed a stone with her name and "in memory" of her husband there. How can we best handle the duplicate memorial? I'm suggesting, if you don't mind, that we place your picture of the Rose Hill memorial on his page (my memorial). What are your suggestions? And thank you again for ALL the photographing and recording of graves in our area. You are much appreciated!

RE: Redfern
Wow! That is very kind of you!
As for maintaining...can you explain that to me, or guide me as to finding out how? {I'm still learning the ropes here, honestly. I thought ir meant keeping up with the grounds or maintenance of the stones, etc..guess I was way off!}
Marietta Redfern-dob 4/28/1940, county, Ky.
-dod June/2011, Vanderburgh co., Evansville, In.
Her married name at death was Johnston [no middle name, so guess use her maiden for that?]
Her husband was #3)Billy Lee Johnston [also no recorded data yet..will have to pull out dates.]
She was married twice before,#2)Wm,Joseph Russler- [living]& #1)Glenn Allen Sallee 10/29/1937-10/13/1012, he was born in Muhlenberg co.,Ky. I may be feeding you too much info..sorry, if so. I try to be efficient.
Again, Thank you sooo much for your kindness & help! Sincerely, K.
I cannot find exact day at this hunting. guess its a blur. I can edit it or send stats so it gets edited, if that's poss. need to look up my step dad's too. Best regards

RE: Redfern
No, Marietta Redfern does not...She has no gravesite, per se--her request, as my stepdad's, was cremation & then ocean; Now after dabbling in the gen.field-I'm wondering if I shouldn't get them a plot anyway.[still have the urns]. Maybe you can shed some light on this issue?
As for Jimmy [maybe spelled Jimmie] Gale Redfern...he lived in Whiresville & had a place in Louisville, Ky...pretty sure his is not recorded, either. His family [immediate] is still alive-we just do not talk. Thanks for asking, if I can help-let me know. I have his birthday, files here if you should need anything.
Again, thanks! K.~
