Bio Photo I visited Find-A-Grave for years filling in blanks on my family tree. After retirement I decided to become a contributor too.(2010)

(2014) I have now turned my attention to Indiana. I am working with a cousin to add memorials and photographs to the thousands of old cemeteries there. He does the leg work and I do the desk work.
I also work in conjunction with my cousin, Carolyn Scott, in Green County KY to put up memorials for our extended families there.

If anyone has complaints about my memorials try asking NICELY first without the venom - you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar - as Mama used to say.

Please note that the new system allows you to easily post edit requests by clicking the EDIT tab on your bio page - and then clicking "process edits" at the bottom of that screen.

A FEW TIPS FOR TAKING GOOD TOMBSTONE PICTURES:
1. Take a photo of the entire tombstone first, then get a close-up of the name if it is hard to read on the whole view. Try to fill the frame with the stone and not the surrounding countryside, homes, cars, etc.
2. Look for your reflection or shadow in the tombstone BEFORE you take the picture! Stand to the side to prevent reflection.
3. Squat in order to get on the same level as the tombstone - don't stand and shoot down at a sharp angle.
4. If the stone is vertical, take the picture vertically - it will display on the memorial much larger than horizontally. PLEASE DO NOT put the picture up sideways!!! This is very disrespectful!! If you don't know how to turn it, ask me and I will try to help.

We are trying to preserve history so we want the very best pictures possible - it may be all that survives!

** My photos may be used for any nonprofit purpose - ONLY IF - you give credit by listing your source so others can find it. Noting the source INCLUDES the photographer's name, and the Find-a-Grave memorial number or website.**

Hello again,

I'm also here, too. I care for a small list of memorials of my lines, and my wife's.

I also act as 'gate keeper' for the Lick Creek Cemetery listings, as my father personally inventoried them, and published his findings in the Journal of the Detroit Society of Genealogical Research. Since that plot was turned-under and converted to a park decades ago, I monitor the site to keep new listings from 'popping up'.

All the best to you and yours!

Yours in history's mysteries, (TM)

Cary C.

RE: SHEPHERD'S PIC
Thank you greatly for the very nice compliment, CatheaC! You are most welcome! I was back in my hometown for the day, a beautiful one at that, and decided to stop by the cemetery. I'm glad I found I could find it for you. :)

Hi, any chance the August burial info given on your F.A.G. memorial might be a typo? I have a death cert. for Maggie J., wife of Charles C., giving her DOD as September. Would like to straighten this out prior to sending the rest of her info, Many thanks.
