My interest in genealogy began when I was 17 years old, and hasn't let up a bit after 40+ years. |
I am always honored to transfer a memorial to a family member, to give that loved one a lasting memorial which they deserve. If you find a family member among my memorials, please request a transfer FROM THE MEMORIAL PAGE. That makes it so much easier! Be SURE and include your contributor number.
Family is precious... past, present and future. Don't take them for granted!

God bless you :)

It was my privilege to grab the first grave photo for this man - forever young - this week. Beautiful memorial. Nicely done!

Thank you for your kind words.
Don't forget to check West Prairie View for people who passed from the 1960's forward. Both of the cemeteries are pretty full now, but in about 1965 or so (as nearly as I can estimate), most of the burials went to West - literally right across the road. There is often confusion because the obituaries always state "Prairie View," but most from the mid-sixties on are in West Prairie View.
I'm so happy I can help you with my boots on the ground! ;)

Okay. Thanks for the clarification on that. We have a lot of German immigrants in this neck of the woods and they have five or six "first" names and only Mama knows which one she's going to be called. If I make an edit like that, it's because I've been chasing her under her "first" name as given and everyone who knew her called her by her third middle name.
Challenges challenges... :)
Thank you! :)

I get the name thing. You'd be amazed at how often I'm called "Jan." I'm amazed. lol...
I just wanted to make sure that we were doing what you intended on the Young files. It's rather unusual to see identical stones for wife and sister. Assuming is never good is it? Meanwhile, I looked up Frank's obit and have sent that to you to use as you choose. It's a really bad scan, so the transcription isn't perfect, but it hits the highlights.
I love his church status. It made me smile. :)
It's really been a delight to work on these cemeteries this summer. And when people pick up the files that have been missing, in some cases for decades, it's the best feeling ever!!
Thank you for the edits!
And how tired to you get of people misspelling your name despite the fact that we're staring right at it?
So you're telling me that Amanda and Raymond are husband and wife, not sister and brother to Florence?
Just want to verify...

Hi Sonya, would you please transfer my great uncles' Memorial page to my care and custody. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you! Patricia Elizabeth Hill Dominy, Find A Grave member # 47625241

Good deal. We are still working on Prairie View, and it's much larger than it looks on FindaGrave. We are hoping to get over to St. John while we still have lovely weather. Perhaps, in the meantime, someone else will feel moved to go Find A Grave. :)
I believe that you placed this woman in the wrong cemetery. All information in the obit leads me to believe that she is in Saint John Cemetery in Germantown, IA. (That would be the "Luthran Burying Ground."
Prairie View Cemeteries are about 10 miles east of G'town, and they are public, not religious. St. John fits the bill perfectly.
There's a photo request out for this lady and I'd really like to get her in her correct resting place. She is not listed on any records at Prairie View.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
