Bio Photo My beautiful daughter Megan Elaine Brookover

San Diego has some of the best Find a Grave contributors who are doing an amazing job of documenting our local cemeteries. If you need a grave photo there is no shortage photo volunteers. If you are looking for an obituary, cemetery information or advice we have volunteers happy to help you.
If you are new to Find a Grave and want to start contributing in the San Diego area please read the FAQs or reach out to someone with your questions.

Please always do a search before creating a new memorial

Links, Corrections and additional information
Please use the edit tab and I will be happy to make corrections, add links and additional information. Do not leave information you want added on this page.

Note: Abstracted lists (such as census, death index, etc.) should be formulated into complete sentences prior to submitting for addition to the bio.
Copy-and-paste census, military and other data is not a "bio"." "Please don't send these types of edits because they will not be added.

Transfers
This is Find-a-Grave, we find graves, so please, if the memorial doesn't have a grave photo, request one prior to asking for a transfer.
I'm pretty liberal when it comes to transfers, however too many times I have transferred and nothing is added or changed. So if you want a transfer, please:
1. Post any family photos (if you have them)
2. Provide me with family links and biographical information you wish to add to the memorial.
3. Tell me your exact relationship

I will not make a transfer if you create excessive memorials with unknown burial locations.

Please be a Find a Grave contributor, not just a collector of someone else's work

✔ PLEASE NOTE!!! Do not move your Burial Unknown into the correct cemetery based on the information you found from my memorial & then demand that I delete my duplicate.

Benjamin Stafford-- Evergreen Cemetery Imperial County
Gennaphyr,

Greetings to you. Do you think next time you are near this cemetery in El Centro, Imperial County, you could take a photo of his gravestone- #114264141 ? You were the creator of his memorial. He is a Spanish American War Veteran from the US Navy, served on the USS St. Paul and was born in Wisconsin. Thanks! John

RE: Lakeside Cemetery
After I finished working with my information from Lakeside Cemetery, I am pretty sure I discarded my papers with the name of the sexton.
It would be my guess that the cemetery is administered by the City of Hancock since the cemetery is in the boundaries of the city. Online it says the city clerk is Karen Haischer at (906)482-2720 or clerk@cityofhancock.net. They might charge a small fee to look things up.

Hi Dale, do you have a contact phone number for the Lakeside Cemetery? I'm not able to find one online. I found an obituary for my GG Grandpa saying he is buried there but he is not listed on the database on their website, he died in at the Houghton Poor Farm in 1922 and his name was Jacob Lindrus (obit said Lindrose another obit said Lindroos) Another possible surname is Savori as I saw that in a family Bible.

Rebecca Boardman
RE: Amelia Combs Forney
Combs was the surname of her second husband. He is also the father of her only 2 children Eugene and Walter. Even though the stone says Combs, Findagrave guidelines state that only the last surname (at death) and maiden name belong at the top of a memorial. Other husband's surnames should be mentioned in the bio section.

Robert Snead
Your memorial for Robert is 99986648

Robert Earl (Bob) Snead, 85, of Rancho Bernardo, passed away Nov. 22, 2008, at Pomerado Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Indianapolis, Feb. 15, 1923, son of Charles and Eloise Snead, and spent early years near Detroit where he graduated from Royal Oak High School.

In 1942 at age 19, Snead tried to enlist in both the Marine Corp and U.S. Army, but was denied because of a heart murmur. A tonsillectomy removed the symptoms, and he enlisted as an officer candidate at the Navy flight school in Pensacola. Assigned to the carrier U.S.S. Hancock, CV-19, Lt. Snead flew the F6F Hellcat and later F4-U Corsair in missions over China and Japan, 1944-45.

During shore leave, he met Betty Jane Griffin in San Pedro; the couple married Dec. 8, 1945, settled in So. California, and raised five children. Snead went to work for the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company where he served as special agent until retirement. In 1964 the family moved to Rancho Bernardo, to become Snead's permanent home. Snead and wife Jane enjoyed 35 years together; she died in 1981. He remarried in 1983 to Marjorie King, a Pac Tel employee, with whom he enjoyed 22 years. Marge Snead passed away in 2005.

Snead was an avid golfer, a member of Rancho Bernardo Inn Men's Club and Mavericks Club. Friends called him a "boring golfer" for his consistent center-fairway play. He kidded buddies that he was a distant cousin of Sam Snead…a claim never verified. He made two career holes-in-one, the most recent at age 84. Snead bowled, fished and travelled extensively.

He is survived by Carol Engert of San Diego, Bob Snead of Temecula, Jim Snead of Rancho Bernardo, Rich Snead of Shedd, Ore., and Joan Delamarian of Hydesville; and by 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Bob Snead was known for his dry wit, generosity, and devotion to a family that affectionately respected him as one of the Greatest Generation and one of the heroic "Flyboys" of the War in the Pacific. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, Dec 27, 2008, at the Rancho Bernardo Swim and Tennis Club. The family humbly requests in lieu of flowers, contributions to the San Diego Blood Bank. Published by the Ramona Sentinel News.
