Yates Union Chapel Cemetery |
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
I post information and photos so we can learn, share and remember those before us. If you wish to manage any listing that I have posted it would be my pleasure to pass it on to you.
YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO USE ANY PHOTOS THAT I HAVE TAKEN AND POSTED TO FIND A GRAVE.

Thank you for the Data on Truman Day. Very Interesting. I love adding as much as I can. Just not good at finding it. Hope what Memorials I add helps others in their search.
Thank you & Merry Christmas
|Claudia||Robert Yates death date|
Note that the headstone in Union Chapel Cemetery for Robert Yates reads Sept 30, not Sept 3. Probably a typo not caught, but it ends up as an error in a search on Ancestry.com

We were out driving yesterday down Governor's Trace in Crawford County and saw the sign for the Farmer Cemetery...is Jane the only one buried here? If so, that's sad...

Thank you for transferring Field Kegley over to me.
Most of all thank you for all the work you do on Find A Grave, and for taking the time to look up info on many of your memorials... Great job.

Thank you for sharing the lovely poem and I think it should make us all think a bit about our ancestors. And thank you for being so gracious with your information. Pat Meadows

Do you know where I can get ahold of Doris Leisner's book "Crawford County Civil War Veterans"? I think it would help me a lot in my research. Thanks,
Thank you for the additional information.
