Bio and Links
Bio Photo This is a fun and interesting hobby for me, as well as a great way to perform a meaningful community service to others. Someday I hope to have more free time to devote to it.
In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, please read the Transfer Guidelines prior to requesting a transfer. I will make exceptions if I am doing photo requests for you. You do not need to "manage" every memorial that is part of your family tree. Remember that this site is for locating burials, not building a tree. There are other websites that are more suitable for that purpose. I will be happy to make any links and corrections. PLEASE use the SAC feature ("Edit" tab). Please do not ask me to do links to any "Burial Unknown". Do your homework, first. FIND A GRAVE ADMINISTRATORS SUPPORT THIS POLICY. Please feel free to add photos where appropriate, as you do not need to manage the memorial to add photos.

Please be kind to Photo Volunteers! We are out there in all kinds of weather in a variety of conditions to find your friend's/relative's graves. We are not after a Pulitzer Prize and sometimes even our best effort may produce a not-so-good photo. If any of my photos are not to your liking, please leave me a message and I will try to get a better one. I will not be offended.

Since March 2013 I have taken over management of approximately 25,000 memorials in Inglewood Park Cemetery from Chris Mills. Please continue to send suggestions for corrections using the "Edit" tab and I will get to them as soon as I can.

My Photo request
Hi Again

My photo request for Eileen Rivet was a unique request that I should explain. I do live in the area, actually Rolling Ranchos in Lomita. We are moving shortly to a condo in Torrance owned by the late Eileen Rivet. I thought it would be a little strange for me to take a photo of her headstone. That is why I made the photo request.

Duplicate memorials
Hi B.J.
I know that you are not a fan of the bulk submittal of memorials, however, if I had not done the bulk submittal for Green Hills it would have been years or perhaps never for the completion of the memorials at Green Hills considering the rate at which folks are interred there.
With respect to the problem of duplicates occurring, the amazing "geeks" who created FindAGrave haven't always done a good job in making it easy for the bulk submission of memorials without duplicates creeping in. Some of the problems I have had are:
1) In the early years they used the 2003 version of Excel (.xls extension) for bulk submittals which was limited to only 64K of "records". At that time Green Hills had about 85,000 records which had not been submitted. At that time they could download the complete database of Green Hills to me. I took that database and merged it with the database that I obtained from Green Hills. I went through carefully by hand and eliminated all the duplicates from over 100,000 records.
2) In the updated submittal I did in August of 2015, it became much more difficult to weed out duplicates. FindAGrave no longer could or would download the complete records of Green Hills cemetery so a bulk submitter like myself could merge the new entries and go through and eliminate by hand the duplicates, which I would have done. FindAGrave in their "wisdom" said, "lets let our computers do the "de-duping" as you call it. Yes, I did get many duplicates "kicked back" to me and I did delete those duplicates. However, unless the record is precisely identical, FindAGrave will keep both records, hence the duplicates creep in.
3) Presently, FindAGrave will only download a file of a maximum of 10,000 names at a time. So, for a large cemetery like Green Hills hand checking for duplicates is a thing of the past, and we are at the mercy of the de-duper computer.
I hope this clarifies some of the problems in doing bulk submittals. I probably hate duplicates more than any body and will delete them almost immediately as I am made aware of them.

Thanks for listening

Warren

James Ross Frazer
Hi, B.J.
and thanks for all the work you have done for memorials in the Inglewood Park Cemetery.

I drove there today from Oxnard (call me crazy, it's all right, I agree!). I found James Ross Frazer's nameplate outside the Manchester Gardens Mausoleum and photographed it and posted the photo, but even after editing it, the image posts upside down. I took the photo on my iPad.

Actually that is not why I've written to you. I am the family historian and I would like to request maintenance for James or request that you make the following changes: James R Frazer to James Ross Frazer, born in Toole Co, UT, died in Hawthorne, L.A. Co, CA. The dates of course, are correct.

I have created a memorial for his wife, Dorothy Ruth Hensel Frazer, but her daughter Mary, has not got back to me about whether she is in the mausoleum with him, because her name plate is not up there. I have linked them together. I forgot to ask the office about her, but her daughter Mary told me previously that she is there.

OK, now I will end here, and send you a couple of more messages for other family members there.

Thanks again! Nancy

RE: Licensing?
I had only met Sharon a couple of times at community functions so didn't know her well at all.

The photo was from her Wikipedia page, taken in 2007. The page said it could be used under certain parameters.

"You are free: to share to copy, distribute and transmit the work
to remix to adapt the work
Under the following conditions: attribution You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
share alike If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one."

If you don't think the attribution is correct, or that it still would not be approved by Find A Grave, I can remove the photo.

As for my profile page, I am not certain what the glitch is. It's been that way for quite a while now.

Let me know what you think about the photo.

Regards,

Chris

RE: Paul Simpson photo request.
Hi BJ,

Going to defer to your powers of tracking people down. You're much better than I am. I searched all my sources that I usually use which isn't near what you can do and I found zero. What led you to believe he's in GH? I'll unclaim for now. Thanks. Jeff

RE: Terry Pelton
Hi BJ, yours is the only memorial I found for Terry Pelton, and actually it is a girl lol! I mowed a row at the National Cemetery today after finishing some others I was after, and was adding those this evening. I will add the photo to your memorial and you can change the cemetery. She is at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin, CA.
Thanks! One of my first corrections!

RE: Your Photo Requests.
Hi again,

Thank you again for all your work you do on Find A Grave especially with photo requests. I do have also done a lot of requests or photographing cemeteries in my area. You are correct alot of the names came from the old Inglewood burial search site. I have been trying to get alot of my earlier records cleaned up or asking for a photo. I also work on duplicates and finding burial unknowns. I again thank you for all your help, time and effort.

K.
