Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am 70 years old and retired for 9+ years. I started working on photographing the grave markers of my family members, mostly in the Beechwoods Cemetery, Beechwoods, Pennsylvania. I live in Dayton Ohio, but have a camp just south of DuBois, PA. My niece Carol Laughlin and I have managed to photograph every grave marker in this cemetery as of the spring of 2008.

Since then, I have moved on to do several other smaller cemeteries located closer to my cabin. They would be Wood, Greenville & Chestnut Grove Cemeteries. I have now completed all three of these as of October 2007. I have also finished another (June 2008) named St Bonaventure located near Irishtown, Clearfield Co., PA.

On a recent trip to Alaska, I took photos of the first cemetery that I saw, it was in Seward, Alaska. I now have those listed on Findagrave. I was not able to take all of them, but managed 32. Also in the winter of 2012, I photographed all of the markers in a cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana while there on a hunting trip.

October 2013 update: I have just finished taking photos at St Catherines Cemetery in DuBois, PA & the Medway Cemetery in Ohio, Between those two, I have taken nearly 7000 photos. I have acquired the records for St Catherines in DuBois and for the past month I have been adding memorials. There were 318 when I started, and the records indicate over 3100 burials. Medway contains over 4,000 burials. It will be a while before I get all the memorials uploaded, then I will start editing the photos. I should have them done by spring of 2014.

I have finished Dille Cemetery, Ohio: Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Penfield, PA (Added cemetery and 116 memorials): Soldier Hill & Holy Trinity, Sykesville, PA: Conway Cemetery(9 new memorials) and Bundy in Sabula, PA; (Added 49 new names and markers in Bundy): Sandy Valley, Reynoldsville, PA. About 1800 photos taken so it will be some time before they are ready to upload!

Times marches on, I just finished uploading about 4000 photos to the Medway, OH Cemetery. (Jan. 2014) and I am now editing another 3800 for St Catherines in DuBois, PA. I gained access to the cemetery records and was able to add apx. 3300 new memorials. Photos will follow in due course.

If you are interested in a CD of the photos I have taken at any of my chosen cemeteries, they are available at minimal cost. I have the originals from Beechwoods on 8 discs, and the cropped and sized images on 2 discs. For the other cemeteries, the photos are available on one CD. The cost would be $2.00 per CD plus postage. Feel free to contact me via this website. Ed

RE: Lewis DeSander
Yes. He was my great uncle. I had the wonderful experience of also spending time working there in my early teens as a first job. He (as I am sure you may know), kept the Photo Shop open until he was well into his 80's.It is so nice for you to have shared that with me! So many have spoken so fondly of him to me.

The adjacent grave of the Parziale's, is Mr. DeSander's sister and her husband, my Grandparents. and my Mother is also buried there. Her name is to be added to the headstone soon (Mary L. Vitarelli 1949-2009). We had to get permission of the cemetery to have the marker changed as she had been cremated and is not in a standard sized grave. The Olivo's (Philomena and Orazio, also nearby) are Mrs. Parziale's and Mr. DeSander's mother and step-father. I am anxious to see the photo, as I am trying to find out exactly when it was that Mrs. Olivo passed.

Mr. DeSander was a few years older than his immigration papers formally made him. His true date of birth is most likely September 7, 1904, not 1909. His brother was born here in the United States some six months (March 6, 1910, Brooklyn, NY) after Lewis was supposedly born in Italy. His cause of death was from old age. He was very dear to me.

Constance.

Falls Creek aka Taylor Cemetery
Hi there,
It has been a while since I have left any messages for you(and your niece-fellow graver)..There just seems to be a brick wall where some of the Jefferson Co. Crawford/Turner Family come into play. But I have recently found out that my grandmother Elsie Turner Crawford's step mother was an Alice Knuppenberger(sp)and that the 2 of them are buried in the Falls Creek or Taylor --James died Jan 23,1911 at the Warren County Hospital and Alice Dec 11, 1918 in Blair Co. per state records. James' first wife in 1880 census listed as Rachel died in 1884-per that Alice and Jas wedding license..I cannot find her either). There is no listing on the Find A Grave site for them and I was wondering if you or Carole had gotten in that area lately?
Thanks for checking, Edna
