So please find the grave or final disposition of the body before you make a memorial. Under the Find A Grave guidelines, burial unknowns are subject to removal or merger.

I only list military rank before the name on a memorial when the service member died while in the service or was a career 20 year+ retiree. Its use other than this is prohibited by the DoD.

Please don't put my photos or bios in a commercial or "for sale" publication without my express written permission for each item. It's not about "owning" the photos, it's about giving another person credit for the effort they exerted to gather & post data for the benefit of those who are searching for family members. The Elusive Ancestor

I went searching for an ancestor, I cannot find him still.
He moved around from place to place and did not leave a will.
He married where a courthouse burned, he mended all his fences.
He avoided any man who came to take the U.S. census.
He always kept his luggage packed, this man who had no fame.
And every 20 years or so, this rascal changed his name.
I'm told he's buried in a plot, with tombstone he was blessed; But the weather took the engraving, and some vandals took the rest.
He died before the court clerks decided to keep records.
No family bible has emerged, in spite of all my efforts.
To top it off, this ancestor who caused me many groans, just to give me one more pain, betrothed a girl named JONES!!!
