Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am working on maintaining Middlesex (Map), Essex (Map) and Suffolk (Map) counties in Massachusetts.

If any information I enter is incorrect, you wish to add something, or would like a direct relative within four generations transferred just let me know. (per F.A.G. guidelines FAQ79) If requesting a transfer please make sure to say how you are related.

Please use the 'Edit' tab on the upper right hand corner of the memorial for any of the above requests. Thank-you.

This is Find A GRAVE. Please do not ask me to link to 'burial unknowns'. I will be more than happy to do so when the location is found. Take a moment to read FAQ146 regarding unknown burials.

In case you do not wish to read FAQ146 it states "Location of body unknown is used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days."

1/1/2017 Just wanted to leave a quick note that I'm a little behind on my email SACs but am working on them. I havent forgotten anyone. If you include sources all edits will be done faster.

When reading this information I think you may have the wrong parents to this person. In MA documets the parents are listed as John and Lydia Sprague.

She was married to Nahums Whitcomb and then married my relative Albert W Robbins. I am not sure that her middle name is correct either.

Would you be so kind to do a little more research on this person to confirm if you have the correct parents and middle name.

I feel you have the correct stone just some incorrect information. Thanks

Josiah Bailey, Sr. #94188823
Hi, Denise - it's Lanita again with another question, on the above ancestor.

We need to use this ancestor's tombstone picture in our Colonial Dames application for John Bailey/Bayley. Since you are an expert on this sort of thing, would you mind taking a look at this tombstone because we think the date of the death may have been interpreted wrongly.

Unfortunately, the US Census records for Josiah Bailey do not show consistent information. However, if you interpret the date of death on the tombstone as July 4, 1862 (instead of the noted 1867), that would indicate he was born in 1773 which then matches his age given in the 1860 census.

What do you think the date is?

Thanks so much - we would appreciate your thoughts as a fresh pair of eyes on this -

RE: John Bailey - #59988193
Denise - Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, I appreciate it. This is one of the last pieces we need in a 12-generation application, so if you can find your source, that would be so great! We look forward to hearing more from you.

In the meantime, my friend has done a lot of research on this ancestor and you may want to note that John Bailey's terror from that ship wreck was so great that he even repeatedly refused a "court order" to go back to England and get his wife. And his letters to her telling of the ship wreck were so descriptive that his wife decided to never try the crossing for fear the same thing would happen to her.

Thanks for your help! Lanita

John Bailey - #59988193
Hi, Denise -

I am helping a friend with an application to the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century for the Bailey line and we are wondering where you got the birth date of 30 Aug. 1590 for John Bailey/Bayley, as noted on your memorial. We would like to use this date but need definitive proof for it. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance! Lanita
