I am researching the descendants of Toliver WALLACE and Nancy DYCUS of Rutherford County, North Carolina and Cobb County, Georgia (migrated in 1866). Other ancestors who migrated from NC to Georgia include: Peter Tilman LEWIS and Catherine STRADER of Rockingham County, NC and Georgia; Jesse P. F. ANDERSON and Mary Ann QUEEN of Clay County, NC and Bartow County, GA; Thomas HADAWAY and Lavinia MORRIS of Halifax County, NC and Wilkes County, GA.
South Carolina to Georgia Edwin Harmon GREEN and Nancy Crow SMITH of South Carolina to Bartow County, Georgia to St. Clair/Blount Counties, Alabama.
This week I walked the entire cemetery at New Hope Church and looked to fill your photo request for Martha Brightwell. (I have a lot of ancestors buried there as well so I was documenting their plats.) I did not see a headstone for MB. There are graves there that are only marked with stones or so worn with age the inscriptions are no longer visible. I noticed on your profile other family names (like Anderson). Was MB related to them? How about the Lewis'? I remember seeing a big plot for Anderson there...Can you give me more info on another relative family name to MB? She could be buried near another family name, but only have a stone...this could possibly help me locate her. I know the pastor at New Hope Church. I may be able to see an old church plat record to find the exact location. :)
RE: Helloo... Well I have 9,000+ followers on my site... they are about to learn about him. I already have the photos from Ancestry and Wade Hills Grandaughter. Great stuff. He built more than most any know.
Helloo... Well hello Ms. Blanche... I am Davis in Marietta, GA and I would like to use/retell some of your research on my site (Old Marietta - Facebook) as it relates to (what I think) the most important and never mentioned Pioneers of Cobb County... Bird, TW and Wade hill Wallace... as it relates to "building Marietta"... ? I am on the Board of Directors at the marietta Museum of History and a 6th generation Mariettan... it just shocks me that we all know Brumby, Glover, Northcutt, etc. But the Wallace's seemed to have slipped through the history credit crack.
RE: Wiliam Stephen Barton, Memorial no. 150176026 I took the maiden name off of John Bates Barton's death certificate. But, after digging into the deaths of some of the other children-daughter Martha Barton ONeal has Rogers for mother's maiden name and so does son James have Rogers on his application for Social Security. I think I will do some more digging. I will make a note on William's memorial about the descrepancy of the mother's maiden name. I have no direct relation to Barton. I have two different Barton lines married to two Jones cousins in my line, that I was tracing. A niece of William Stephen Barton (Olen Estelle Barton) was married to a 1st cousin 2x rmoved.
RE: Hall photo request Hi, Blanche! It was my pleasure to locate the marker for you for Mr & Mrs George Hall. I have posted the best pic I could get for Mr. Hall(and edited to help the engraving be more visible). I will be happy to email you all of the pics I took to see if any of them are more suitable for you for Mrs Hall, as well as the shot of the entire lot so you can get a better idea of the condition it is in. The cemetery and church are very historic to that community and I've located quite a few of my ancestors there that my family was unaware of. I hope you find your information you need :) Take care
Thanks for the kind note! Bascomb Cemetery is one that I entered from Shirley Morris's transcription book, so I have little first hand knowledge of it. If I come across any records that will be of assistance to you, I'll be sure to let you know.
