I live in Midland, Ontario, Canada and have been an avid genealogist for 18 years. My memorials are all direct and collateral ancestors I have gathered through the years.|
Health problems have curtailed my travelling and photgraphing headstones and cemeteries. I shall keep everyone posted as to when my health improves and I can get back on the road.

Benjamin Westlake, #41508387, and his second wife Sarah Truesdell Westlake, #41508693, are interred and have memorial stones in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, New York. They were initially interred in Horseheads’ Westlake Cemetery, but the cemetery was moved about a century ago. Please change the burial information you have posted on Find A Grave. Thank You

Hello, I am researching my lineage to connect to a Revolutionary War patriot John Abrams b. 1756 in Orange Co, NY, married to Hannah Westlake 6 Apr 1784 in New Windsor, Orange Co, NY. You show Hannah's death on 6 Mar 1810. However, I have located on Fold3 her widow's pension and she is still living in 1841. I was hoping you could help me with any proof of birth or death for her and possibly for him. I called the Horseheads Cemetery and he said he didn't have a record for either one. Any help you or anyone else interested in the Westlake family would be greatly appreciated.
|Harley ||Iona Veidenheimer|
As of October 4, 2015 went to Forest Lawn cemetery in Buffalo, NY and did a search for Iona's grave section they have no records of her being buried there. I ran her under all three names her maiden name (Scharm/Scrama), under first married name (Ryerse) and under her second married name Veidenheimer.

I have the original obituary of this man and I would like to type it out and add it to his memorial. It is full of info that I believe would be helpful to other family looking for him
|Linda Clutter||Nona Florence (Gause) McCoy|
Hello Mr. Carter - I hope your health is improving! I have asked for a couple of changes to my grandmother, Nona Florence (Gause) McCoy's memorial but I was wondering if you would be willing to transfer it to me and I can make the changes myself. Thank you for considering my request.
I saw your impressive Growcott Cemetery on Find A Grave, and decided that I would get in touch.
My maternal 5th Great Grandfather was John Growcott (1760-1823). More recently in time, I am the Great Granddaughter of Martha Jane Growcott (1869-1960) and George Mellor (1873-1914).
Where do you fit in the vast expanse of the Family Growcott?
I would love to hear from you, and exchange notes and research if you are interested.

Mary E. Wright Garwood (Mary Elizabeth Wright)
Mary's body is not lost - the jerk husband she had (John Thomas Garwood) left her to die alone of cancer while they were in root to Oklahoma.
In 1900, John Thomas Garwood, along with other family members, loaded livestock, farming equipment and household goods on a train in Kirksville, Missouri and went to Oklhaoma City in Oklahoma Territory to homestead near the present day town of Leedy, Oklahoma.
John's wife, Mary E. Wright-Garwood, was in a Kansas hospital and was unable to accompany him. Mary never recovered, never got to Oklahoma and died of cancer in 1901. She is buried in the Bethel Church Cemetery near Sperry, MO (northeast of Kirksville, MO). (So the jerk just left her there to die alone???)
After Mary's death, John (the jerk!), returned to Ohio and married Sarah Shetzler (former wife of Charles E. Wright who is the son of Elisha & Eleanor Wright) and was buried in Kenton, Ohio.
Members of the family known to accompany him were his young daughter, Cressie Irene, his newly married daughter, Erma and her husband Lewis Lowe.
His brothers, Gillingham and Edward, were have thought to have gone with and possibly his sons, Samuel and Arza with their first wives. It is known that Samuel and Arza moved to Oklahoma but that they returned to Kirksville, MO and spent their adult lives there. As a young man, Arza spent some time working in Kansas, so it is possible that he was near his mother when she was in the hospital but this is just conjecture.
Lewis and and Erma Garwood Lowe proved up their homestead and built a home on it but they considered the land they homesteaded not well suited for farming. It is now under long term oil lease. But they sold it and with their three children, Bertha, Ethel and Kenneth who had been born in Oklahoma Territory, returned to Kirksville and later on to Rutledge, MO.
Cressie Irene lived with her sister, Effie Rose and her husband Ed Kelly, until her own marrige to Jack Albright. Their families remained in Oklahoma, as well the Gillingham Garwood family.
