A proud Canadian, I now live in the beautiful Province of British Columbia :D Locations of interest near my former home in Ontario include all of Simcoe County (which is about an hour north of Toronto), plus Ancaster (west Hamilton) and the (former) County of Wentworth, which are due west of Toronto.

Copyright courtesy requested! If you wish to use a photo that I have uploaded to a memorial here on Find-a-Grave, and post it to another website 'as yours', KINDLY ASK ME FIRST. In general, I don't mind if anyone uses my photos for their personal records, and I would hope my name would be included for the source file. But please, if you're going to post them to a FEE-BASED/SUBSCRIPTION website (including Ancestry, which as we all know ultimately profits from _everything_ contributed to their site), it would be nice if credit to the photographer (me) could be given within the posting. I don't know if other sites make this possible, but something such as: "Photograph taken by OhSunnyOne, Ancaster, Ont" would be appreciated.
Thank you for this consideration.

RE: Eliza Davidson & Transcription
Beth, I don't know if 30 October 1788 is Eliza Davidson's baptismal date. The information I collected about her came from sources that I recorded in my family history database. Here is what I wrote; Entry in my maternal grandmother, Constance Maude Bowen's diary shows birth on 6 Nov 1788. Death, marriage and burial records are from Quebec City Anglican Cathedral records ("Metro"), read on 27 Oct 1995 by P. C. Gunyon at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec. Eliza Davidson was from "Belmont Manor", Ste. Foy parish, according to "Metro." Her marriage was attended by her father James Davidson, surgeon to the 2nd Bn. Royal Canadian Volubteers, and wittnesses "John Caldwell and another person whose signature is illegible, acting as (illegible) to James Davidson, Father". Also present were a "Wm. (illegible signature) and John Davidson, Brother" At her death in 1859, her age was "70 years, 11 months" in the Metro record, signed by George V. Housman, Asst. Minister of the Cathedral, who also conducted her burial service. Housman was the second husband of the Bowen's daughter, Louisa. Elizabeth is buried in Section V, Lot 272, Grave 1107 at Mount Hermon Cemetery, whose records indicate she died of "disease of the liver". Eliza's sister Jane, was married to Sir John Caldwell (1775 - 1842) of Quebec. Hon. Edward Bowen started his legal training in John Caldwell's office before transferring to Jonathan Sewell's office. This ocurred due to John Caldwell taking over management of his father Henry's estates and quitting the legal profession.

No worries, just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up. Take your time, no rush, they're not going anywhere.

Hi Beth,

On Jun 27th you left me a message that you would be happy to transfer memorials to me and instructed me to send you an edit on one of the memorials with a list of all the memorial numbers included and you would take care of the transfers.

I did this on June 28th and am just wondering if I did something incorrectly as the transfers have not come through?

Do you want me to send this again?

Thanks,

Mike

ps. I sent the edit on the memorial #63276911 and there were 6 different memorials listed, all inter-related.

Eliza Davidson
Sunny one,
I have suggested a different DOB for Eliza. This date is based on a visit I paid to Mount Hermon Cemetery in 1998 when I transcribed all the inscriptions on the grave marker of Edward Bowen and his family.
Here is what I recorded. If you wish to contact me I can send you the letter I wrote my sister after the visit.

Meredith
I only connect into the family by marriage through one of the sons of John Walsingham Cook MEREDITH.
Nothing had been done by the family on their genealogy which is why I documented and published my findings.
The Meredith Bible ended up in an auction sale because its owner died without spouse or children so I purchased it and several years later donated it to the Regional Collection of the Weldon Library at the University of Western Ontario in London. I
felt it was best preserved in that setting.

Meredith
I find your connection to the Meredith family interesting. I wrote a document about 10 years ago on the London branch of the Meredith family.
I follow his line back to Ralph's father in Ireland but follow in detail with John Walsingham Cook Meredith, son of John and Mary Magdalen (Redmond) Meredith and grandson of Ralph and Martha.
However I do write briefly about London John's four cousins who settled in Canada: William Collis, Harriet, Henry Howard and Edmund Allen - four of the seven children of Rev. Thomas and Elizabeth (Graves) Meredith. The last Meredith living in London died in 1978 (by marriage), and last direct descendant died in 1966 in London. Some of the family had earlier moved to Toronto and Montreal.

Hi!

May I copy and credit your photo of Saint Paul's Cemetery seen on Harold Froud's memorial (99372472) to my family tree on ancestry.com?

Thanks,

"IzzY" Housman
Hi
I believe you have the wrong dates on the memorial. The stone says she died Mar.4,1869, age 41 years.
Rev. Housman's second wife died in 1877 so the first wife (who had several children with him) had to have died prior to Louisa's death.
Did you know that Louisa had a first husband but he died three years after the marriage.

Please ADD to the bio that Louisa married second, George Vernon Housman on Sept.22, 1869 at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Quebec City.
