Bio and Links
Bio Photo My father was born and raised in Rockingham County, Virginia -- as were many generations of his ancestors. My passion to discover his roots has led to digging deeply into old dusty records to bring my ancestors to life and put flesh on their bones. . . . to know more than just names and dates, but to know them and their challenges. I have authored two books of stories, photos and genealogy of my father's family. My family names include Hensley, Maiden, Meadows, Gardner, Smith, Baugher, Eppard, Moyer, Berry, Broyles, Yager, Clore, Cave, Sampson, Keyser and Wyant.

george louis sampson/ emory
my name is kristy and i am the granddaughter of elizabeth virginia sampson which is the daughter of george sampson and sister to emory sampson, lottie hensley, john sampson , and charlie.my mother is delois ann bentley (wilbon).i've been trying to compile my family tree for the last few years but most all my family that i knew would have been able to tell me anything have passed. all i knew abt my great-granddaddy was that his name was george l sampson and that he was buried in an unmarked grave up on the hill behind my aunt lotties house. i would have tried asking lotties son leo before he passed away but i never was able to get to see him very often.if you could help me out with any information i would greatly appreciate it. with my mom not knowing much and both my grandparents gone i am kind of at a standstill. i hope that this info can also be of some help to you. i look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jan,
She's not a relative; I just happened to notice it from a photo I took.
Thanks, Diane

Ludwick Lehman
Hi,
Next time you go to Bethel, would you check to see if Ludwick and his wife Elizabeth Lehman have headstones. I think they are in row 7, maybe next to his son John.
Thanks,
Laurie

Sewell Hensley
Father to Thomas A Hensley, My Mother's dad she never met. He passed away a month before her birth in Dayton Ohio of Pnumonia.

Here's a letter I just sent to one of your newspapers over there.
After extensive research and a little help from a few good websites on the subject, I found a wealth of information to share with my 89 yr old mother, Helen Hensley, her maiden name and related to many Hensleys in your Rockinham and Culpepper Counties. Could be a chapter of the Waltons made for TV but her Grandad, Sewell S. Hensley, had 2 wives, and it looks like about 18 children between them. He was a farmer of course as in his day, it was the going thing in the 1870's. Work and eat and do what comes natural. I'll focus on his second wife, Blanche Irene Hundley, She was my great grandma, on my Mothers side and most probably all of her children have since passed. There was 6 girls and 4 boys, my Granpdad being the second to last born named Thomas A Hensley born in Rockinham County I believe, moved to Culpeper with the family, working farms and one stint in a flour mill down there somewhere. Sewell died in 1916 there in Culpeper and Tom being young and full of adventure, moved to the cold north Erie, Pa to Niagra Falls, NY to find work in the paper mills. He was probably around 20 yrs old and perhaps took the trains or had a model T to get him around. That's where he met my Grandma on Mothers side and they had a quick marriage as the nights were getting colder and 2 under the covers is always better in Erie, Pa. Anyway, If you know of this brood or are related write me your number and I'll call you for a kinfolk chat. My email is simply directerset@gmail.com, and I can go back to the 1730's to a lady named Mary Hensley (father unknown) for the Hensleys and many prominent names like Breeden, Brackney and Maiden who are also tied to the lineage. Small world isn't it.

Hensley
My grandmother was a Henley, but in past records sometimes spelt Hensley; are you related to the Henley's of Tenn? Also I'm interested in the surname of Berry. My G-grandmother's maiden name was Berry, she married a James. My father's middle name was Berry. Any info would be appreciated.

Lester Namon Eppard
Burnice Namon Eppard (sone of Lester) was my father's step-father, but to me he was the only granfather I knew. I have set up a page for him, he is buried in National Memorial Park in Virginia.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having daddy's information available online. Do you know anything else? I got taken away from him when I was around 2. To make a long story short he tried to get me back but was unable to due to health issues when I was 8. William Norman Estes is his brother, my uncle. I have met him 1 time when I was 12. If you don't have info can you direct me in the right direction? Again thank you so much. Teresa Estes Moore
