Hi,

Since 2009 I have been working on preserving the Greenwood Cemetery. I started out taking care of a few family members there and then found more and more. I am related somehow to almost 1/2 of the cemetery.

I have been going through the cemetery stone by stone trying to physically place all the graves. I'm also trying to add names to the stones that are unreadable, which is very very hard! Sometimes I find a stone which just says mother or father even

I have been going through obituaries, church records, cemetery books, county birth records, funeral home records, and death records just trying to make sure every one is found and taken care of.

If you are within the FAG guidelines I will GLADLY transfer too.

I'm just about done with the cemetery now. :D

FAG Rules regarding duplicates:

** If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial you should use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. YOU SHOULD NEVER DELIBERATELY CREATE A DUPLICATE MEMORIAL.

FAG guidelines regarding photos:

** Not obtaining permission before using others photos is a violation of copyright law and is against Find A Grave policy.

I found a photo of a relative on Find A Grave, can I use it?

Photos posted to memorials on Find A Grave are copyrighted by the member who submitted the photos. Lifting the photo to use elsewhere would be a violation of copyright. You must obtain written permission from the member to use any photo for your own use. In general if you did not take the photo yourself, you do not hold the copyright to the photo.

ALSO

"I don't want to submit my information and then see it for sale here or on another site. Will Find A Grave always remain a free site?

Find A Grave has been around for over ten years. Our stated goal has always been to remain a free site for everyone. We have no plans on changing that. Additionally, we claim no copyright or 'ownership' of any photos that are posted to Find A Grave. THEY REMAIN YOUR PROPERTY. If we were to turn evil and start charging people to view YOUR photos against your wishes, you would have every LEGAL RIGHT to demand that we remove them. But we're not planning on turning evil, so it shouldn't be an issue."

---------
Do NOT steal photos from findagrave to use in your family trees on Ancestry.com or for that matter MYHERITAGE.com either. Thank you Deborah Gandy for that over site!

Do not copy, or post to any website, any of the pictures that I've added to Find-a-Grave Memorials.

Thank you.

RE: Collar family
Thank you for transferring my great-grandfather Arthur Collar and his daughter Hattie Myrl to me. I was able to visit the cemetery once, but I live on the West Coast so Iowa is far away! Thanks for your contributions to find a grave. Lanette

RE: Sarah Jane Cochran Hotchkin

Hi, you asked for Sarah Jane's parents, they were
Isaac Cochran jr (78347073) & Ann Hawkins Cochran (78347057). I see Gurdon Beriah Hotchkin, her husband does not have his mother's name linked, she was Alice Elizabeth Fitch Hotchkin(62729190) Maybe you would like to add her also.

It is a beautiful day here in Southern Maryland & it has finally warmed up in the high 50's. Hope
your weather there is nice also. We have definitely had enough cold & snow. Carolyn

Hi, I find my photos all over the internet, at first I was upset but I got over it after 30 + years of doing research, most are family anyway.
I will not use your photo of Sarah Jane's headstone. Carolyn

Hi, Sarah Jane is my husbands cousin, may I copy the picture you have of her tombstone & her husbands to put in my Family Tree Maker files?

I see by your message that you must be a cat person. Me too, I am the cofounder of a cat rescue group in St Mary's County, MD.

Thank you for all the work you have done on Greenwood Cemetery. Sincerely, Carolyn Owen

re: memorials
People should be allowed to make duplicate memorials when there are "collectors" on here who post skeleton memorials of other people's relatives and refuse to give them up, update them or link them and even threaten people who ask for updates or links. I am not speaking about you, but you have no idea what it is like when someone "owns" several cemeteries of other people's relatives and refuses to do links, updates or transfers and threatens people and tells them not to even ask for updates or links or transfers. Such people (not you) should be taken off findagrave.

RE: George W. White
Nothing was said about you. I made a comment about the "owner" of my great Grandfather's memorial George Weadon White, son of George W. White. Findagrave has since transferred him to me after a long wait. I was unable to link him in until that happened because that particular contributor (not you) does not do updates or links or transfer but instead "collects" other peoples relatives to annoy them. It was not you I was speaking of. He has a whole cemetery of my relatives and I had a tree linked up and when findagrave merged them, he deleted update information and unlinked the tree I spent weeks making. Findagrave allows him to do such stunts because he is one of their "top 50" contributors. It is sad when others can "own" your relatives.I posted a note that George W. White had a child George Weadon White, which is true. I deleted it, since now he is linked into the mayflower tree.donna
