My maiden name was Bushnell. My parents were Byron and Nellie Bushnell (Atteberry). My brothers - Mel and Stan.|
In the 1940's Cyrus Bushnell (grandfather) died and was buried at Stearns Cemetery, Talent, Oregon. Subsequent to that, my Dad bought a block of cemetery lots at Stearns, and my Uncle Roy bought another block of cemetry lots at Stearns.
My mother's family, the Loos family (also Polk family), had been using Stearns cemetery for their burials, also, dating back to the 1930's.
I grew up on Wagner Creek in the 50's and 60's, and moved to Michigan in 1973, returning to the Pacific NW in 2000. Our home on Wagner Creek, that my parents buiult, was about 1/4 mile south of the cemetery, at the end of what is now Allen Lane and Morey Rd.
I was so fortunate during the years that I grew up to know many of the old-timers in Talent, including Ormy and Edythe Goddard, our neighbors to the East. My brothers and I used to have the privilege of fishing for trout out of Wagner Creek from Ormy and Edythe's property.
My Dad is now 90, and not well. He plans to be buried at Stearns, next to his beloved companion, Joyce Hatton, and my Mother, Nellie F. Loos Atteberry Bushnell. I plan, upon my death, to also be inurned at Stearns cemetery.
I work for Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Park and Mortuary in the Seattle area.

No, I'm not a relative, I just happen to live in Talent. My family has lived in Oregon for about 35 years now. Most of that time living in Ruch. So, I'm just a findagrave christian friend wishing your family well during a hard time.

That's wonderful that you and your Dad have been so close. He was obviously a very special person. My family's always been very close also. My grandfather lived in Ruch and passed on just a few years ago. It's still really hard. But I'm so glad to have had him in my life. My parents still live in Ruch and are hoping to move to Talent in the near future. It'd be so nice to have them closer and I know they would be happy here.
Well, I hope your week goes ok, best wishes from a friend in Talent.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. A speeding ticket oh my goodness, I'm thinking your Dad must of had a great sense of humor. You did a beautiful job on his memorial page, it really looks nice. Findagrave it's just such a blessing to be able to honour our loved ones in this way. Prayers from our family to yours.

Hi Linda, I went over to Stearns cemetery today to take a few photos and saw that someone had dug down and found Donald's marker. Figured you may have had someone that knew it was still there dig it up. I was so surprised to see it cause I bet it's 4-6 inches deep in the ground. Anyways, I didn't know if you have gotten a photo of the marker yet so went ahead and took one and posted it. If you have already gotten another you'd rather put up definately feel free to take mine down. Happy searching. Jodi

Nice to meet someone with roots here in Talent. We've lived near the elementary school for the last 18 years and just love it here. I just wanted to let you know I did stop by Stearns the other day and I'm sorry to say there was no sign of any marker for Don Atteberry on either side of Nellie's. There's not alot of leaves there now and I couldn't tell that any marker had ever been there. If there's anything else I can do just let me know and good luck in your family searches. Jodi
