RE: Calvin Day
Are you a decedent of john Day I feel bad that he never got to meet his family members. The Day family is the most interesting family in my background. I just found out about John Day about a week ago thanks to your posting on Calvins second wife's name.I always thought it was just a story. Teresa

Calvin Day
Calvin Day was my great great grandfather. Alvin Day was my great grandfather and my grandfather was Roy Day. Alvin Day mother was Mary Davis. The question is why did Calvin leave his second wife Mary Ann Harle? Mother to John W J Day. He married her in Wapello Iowa had a child and left in a hurry leaving
Mary Ann and John behind never to see them again.
He ended up in WI. My Grandfather told us he was working with the underground railroad and the raiders were after him. That is why he left his family behind. John Days family gives a different story. That two Indians come to his door. He went to WI. with them to marry their pregnant sister. impregnated by Calvin Day. How can this be true? That would mean the Mary Davis My great great grandmother was Indian. All the stories passed down to me have been true. The stories about Alvin Day all true every Thanksgiving My mom told the story of him owning a cranberry marsh. And that he owned quite a few mail ordered monkeys back in the 1800. And that when his second wife died (Kathrine Duisburg)my great grandmother. He marry a local farm girl Alice he was running around with before his wife's death hired to take care of Kathrine when she was sick. When Alvin marry Alice in June a frost killed his cranberries on the same day. The curse of Kathrine and the family would go on to say that Alice took off to Arizona with his child and all his money..... Please contact me with any imfo on this story my grandfather said he was Indian (just joking) because of his dark black hair.. Maybe its true.I am daughter to Patricia Day.
