Found this poem while researching through newspapers; it was published in the Rockford Journal; Rockford, Illinois; Saturday, March 2, 1872; p. 2.|
Closed are the laughing eyes,
Beneath their curtains fair,
And round a marble brow,
Soft lies the silken hair.
Stilled are the little hands,
That clasp our own no more,
And still two little feet,
That played around our door.
A little voice is hushed,
That we had learned to love,
And now its music sweet,
The angels hear above.
When first the baby come,
We asked for her God's care,
And He hath sent His love,
An answer to our prayer.
Our Father took her home,
Up to His mansion fair;
We surely could not ask,
More tender, loving care.
And yet we loved her so,
'Twas hard to have her go
To seek a fairer land,
And leave us still below.
We know she'll not return,
But in that fairer home,
The little girl we love,
Will wait for us to come.

Hi I'd like to talk about your page made for Matilda F Brown Lamb - (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=137180140)
I'm looking for the burial location on her husband Charles James Lamb (1892-1974) who she supposedly married sometime before or around 1915
Charles is my cousin through his mother Leonia White Lamb (1866-1937)
Someone posted a message to my page saying Charles might be buried in 'St. Joseph Cemetery, Freeport, Illinois'
But I wanted to contact you seeing as you seemed to have a lot of family links on Matilda's page filled out. But didn't have anything on her husband or their kids Irene,Harold and Paul
|Emmett Dwyer||Memorial# 113299513 Thomas F Keevan|
Thank you for composing a profile for my great grandfather, Thomas F. Keevan.
Correction please: Burial location (IL not MI)
Thomas F. was buried in the Keevan plot of Mount Carmel Cemetery, city of Hillside in Cook County IL; Grave 1 Lot N22 Block 10 Section 17. He was not buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Detroit MI.
He moved to Kane County IL, sometime between 1894 and 1896. born Detroit MI 7-13-1868; d. River Forest IL 5-6-1944; at time of death, he was living with my grandmother, Anita Marie Keevan Dwyer in her River Forest IL house. I have all this documentation. Please contact me if needed.
I have sponsored the memorial you started on him.
1. Could you please transfer his memorial to me? I have additional family material that could be added.
2. Could you help with assistance in researching other Keevans in Detroit Cemeteries? I am relatively new to genealogical research; would appreciate your expertise, insight.
great-great grandparents (parents of Thomas F. Keevan)
-John Keevan b. Ireland ~ b. 1830; immigrated 1850 to Detroit area. Assume he died there, date unknown
-wife of John, Ann or Anna Flanagan Keevan b. Ireland Dec 1830; immigrated 1850. date/burial unknown
-Helen A. Keevan (sister of Thomas F., daughter of John+Ann/Anna; nickname: Nell, Nellie) b. July 1871 or 1873
According to 1900 US Census, Ann was the widowed head of household at 230 Brooklyn Ave., Detroit MI (Ward 6). I cannot find any record of her after 1900 nor daughter Helen A. Keevan.
