Bio

My name is Nancy (Tapley) Mundell. I was born Nov. 12, 1946, in Leavenworth, Kansas. My father was Thomas Edward Tapley, my mother was Betty Jane (Elder) Tapley. My father was born March 25,1926 in Malakoff, Texas, my mother was born October 24, 1925, near Salina, Kansas (on the Elder family farm), my father was the son of Everett W. and Clara Lorene (Grant) Tapley. Everett was the son of R. E. and Susie (Courtney) Tapley. Everett, born May 5, 1895, died Sept. 28, 1940, at the age of 45. He is buried in an unmarked plot close to the foot of his father, R. E. Tapley and his mother Susie Eugenia (Courtney) Tapley. I live in Haysville, Ks. My husband, Jim and I have been married almost 57 years and have two daughters, Penny and Melissa, one Grandson, Austen ( married to Presley Catherine Henderson in 2017) they now have a daughter, Emerald Jane, born Dec. 24th, 2021. Jim and I also have one beautiful talented Granddaughter, Jessy Ann whose parents are Missy and Jason Walston.
I have worked on the Tapley family genealogy for over twelve years now and love this family! I have met so many new cousins and they are wonderful people! I owe so much to them for their help and hope to return much more information about the Tapley line to them in the future. I am proud to be a "Tapley" and always will be. Grandpa Everett, even though I didn't know him (because he died so young) was a wonderful human being, I have been told great stories by family members, that still remember him as kind, thoughtful, caring, willing to spend time with the younger members of the family, when others were too busy or to old to do so. He is said to have had an "easy smile". I don't have very many pictures of him, but I feel such a connection to him. My only hope is that I can be more like him in life. I love my family very much here in Kansas, but I have another larger and growing more each day in TEXAS!!!
I have over 17 large binders full of both Jim and my family including pictures, birth, marriage and death records, census and contact information along with many obituaries.

Other names in my lineage that I have researched are Elder, Norris, Burk, Anderson, Ashmore, Herbage, Herbster, Wheeler, Mudd, Grant, Scroggins,Burnaman, Courtney, and Delamar.

My husband Jim's lineage is: Mundell, Babb, Rogers, Thralls, Prange, Reid, Cary, Brady, and Lunney. Our combined families come from England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany (Prussia), France, Canada and New Zealand. In the United States; Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Virginia,Oklahoma and of course Kansas.
