Bio Photo NOTE: I'm winding down my presence on Find A Grave. I have transferred the memorials I created so that I won't be a roadblock to anyone else. END OF NOTE.

I'm a life-long resident of North Carolina. My Find A Grave documentation is focused on the descendants of Charles Johnson of Strawberry Hill Plantation in Chowan County, N.C. near Edenton. He came to Edenton, Chowan County, N.C. from England in 1775. He was born with the surname "Johnston" or "Johnstone" in Scotland. In 1785, he married Elizabeth Earl of the Earl family of Bandon Plantation in Chowan County. They had one child who survived, Charles Earl Johnson of Bandon Plantation. Charles Earl Johnson's 1807 marriage to Ann Williams Taylor of Franklin County, N.C. produced children who married into the Henderson family of Granville and Rowan Counties, N.C.; the Skinner family of Perquimans County, N.C.; the Iredell family of Chowan County, N.C.; the Granbery family of Perquimans County, N.C; the Baker family of Gates County, N.C. and the Smith family of Halifax County, N.C. My Find A Grave entries focus on the descendants of these marriages.

My Find A Grave documentation also relates to the Wilhelm Huters family of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the Maunsel White family of New Orleans, the Snipes family of Isle of Wight County, Virginia, the Wilson family of Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties in North Carolina and the family of John Alden of the Mayflower.

RE: james h Jones Mt Hope Cemetery
all i know for sure is he had a son Dr. Willis W Jones who lived in DC but by 1940 returned to Wake Co N C. James H Jones died 48-1921 and must have been buried 4-10-1921.He had a daughter in law named Apatha Jones. The H stood for Henry. Does this help.He was an originator of the Victor Hose Fire Dept Co in 1872.Was lWake co Deputy Sheriff, alderman,U.S. Senate employee in 1921. Sure hope this is our man. Would you please double check the photo you have posted of Peter E Hines? I'm looking at the book Doctors in Gray and the photo you have posted is said to be of E Burke Haywood, not Peter E Hines.

james h Jones Mt Hope Cemetery
James H Jones was buried in Mt Hope Cemetery on 4-8-1921 and he was the bodyservant of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and was captured along with Davis on 5-10-1865 in Ga. I see you have taken a entrance photo of Mt Hope. Is it possible for you to take a photo of James Henry Jones gravestone?Im working on a project of location of all the men captured with Davis on this date in USA history. Thanks for your consideration. Talley Bailey critt61626@aol.com 401-567-0298

Rev Samuel Iredell Johnston
Hi Dan - I had the memorial for Rev Johnson in Saint Pauls changed to a cenotaph. I did not see a memorial for him in his family plot so I did add one. If you were planning to let me know and I will be more than happy to delete my entry. Thank you - Cindy
