If you know of any one memorialized here who served aboard the USS Melvin DD-680 in the Pacific Theatre during WW II, please let me know.|
I'm a transplanted New Englander. My parents are Paul Oscar Avery(1921-2003) and Betty Wheaton Avery(1925-1992). My mom's and aunt's interest in family history was passed to me. I have been doing family history research for over 20 years, most of which has been in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.
I am retired, and live in The Villages, Florida, and would be happy to find and photograph cemetery stones of your friends or family in the Sumter - Lake - Marion County area.
If you find some pictures or monuments I haven't included, I'd love to hear from you when you post them. And corrections or additions to my postings are welcome. All suggestions are responded to within 48 hours unless I am out of town. If you supply me with additional information, I will always research and double check it before posting it to a memorial. There is simply too much inaccurate information out there.
Please use the EDIT button on the memorial to initiate correspondence and recommend updates. I am no longer able to respond to emails that do not provide quick and easy access to the memorial in question.
Regarding transfers outside guidelines..... I will consider transfer to those who have a proven track record of collaboration on FindAGrave. I have been burned once too many times by new contributors that are subsequently unresponsive. And PLEASE do not demand transfers. If you do, you will be ignored.
I have completed projects on all cemeteries in Hawley, Buckland, Colrain, and Charlemont, Massachusetts. And another in Sears Cemetery in Barnstable County. Current projects include the Jenks Family in Rhode Island, and Shelburne, Franklin Co, Mass cemeteries. If any of my entries connects to your ancestors, let me know.
There are so many "orphan" memorials here on Find-A-Grave, many of which have been posted en masse and then forgotten. So many need identification and linking so we know who they were! I believe that posting a memorial carries with it a duty and responsibility to manage that memorial properly, taking the time to research, identify, and link the memorial properly, along with a willingness to work with others who may also have an interest in that memorial. The vast majority of Find-A-Grave contributors are wonderful collaborators. But, if you add thousands of memorials, be prepared to manage and care for them, and at least have the common courtesy to respond to update/correction requests.

Thank you for ALWAYS putting the corrections in the order they appear on the memorial. It makes it so much easier to get them done.
THANKS for the photos of Charles' parents. Photos of the memorialized always make the memorial so much better.
Hope winter has been kinder to your location in Florida then it has been here. Its bad enough North of the Mason-Dixon line, but finding out it followed you South would be depressing. We're going to have snowplow mounds in June at this rate.

Good to see you're still out there in the find-a-grave world. Thanks for the links on the Hastings family. It only makes my huge project better.

Thanks for bringing them to my attention. I've deleted the duplicates for the Stebbins memorials.
Oh, Gertrude Estella/Stella Burnett (depending on where you find the records) was born in June 1876 in Charlemont, too.

Lol, oh boy. She's an enigma. She married a few times, but the last time was in 1920 to a man named Willis Pearl Hutson Delaney. And, she may be found under Hutson OR Delaney. I know several of her children from that last marriage were in an orphanage in the 1920s (and the 1930 census), but no record of if or when Gertrude and Willis died. She actually ran out on her first marriage and 6 kids.

I'm descended through their daughter Stella, who you've also got on there. Haha! I'm descended through Stella's daughter Gertrude, whose death we haven't been able to find record of yet. Again, thank you so much. It's great contributors like you who really make this site a genealogical success.

Just wanted to send out a thank you for your impeccable records regarding my great great great grandparents Lambert Thatcher and Harriet Hicks Thatcher. I've copied the obituaries for my records. I hope you don't mind. Anyway, not asking for a transfer, just sending a very huge thanks! I don't have a newspaper.com subscription so I'm thrilled to now have their obits.
