Hi. I've been researching my Griggs family ancestry for quite some time. I've got one line back to England in 1436. My family emmigrated first to Boston (Roxbury), then into Connecticut, Pennsylvania and then all over. |
Some of the more important ancestral surnames I am researching are: Griggs, Leonhardt (Lanhardt), Cole, Ely, Magill, Bentley, and Brown.
I've tried, for each Find-A-Grave listing I've put up, to at least let you know the relationship of the person to another, usually buried in the same cemetery. I've tried to be as accurate as possible but welcome any additional information you may have. Thanks.

Louisa is buried in Graceland Cemetery - Chicago Illinois
"If you are searching for someone buried in the Graceland Cemetery, please send in your inquiries by mail, fax (773-525-9091) or email to email@example.com. Please provide the name and approximate time of death and any other information that may help assist with the search." I did not see any other Griggs markers, but many Bentley family members.

|R Lerch||Louisa Bentley Griggs|
The cemetery office provided the following information for Louisa: "Louise B. Griggs is buried in "E & F" Lot 5 South 11 ‘ Grave # 3. It appears she was originally buried in Lot 4 in "E & F" , the burial location of Willie Meeker. She was moved to Lot 5 5/01/1914 the same date as "Little Alice Meeker" was moved to the lot."
There is a marker and space next to her that could be her husband. She is buried in what looks like a Bentley and Wrenn family plot. I suggest you contact the cemetery to see if her husband is buried there. Bob Lerch

I see you have a memorial for Mary L. Colburn Griggs. If she is not a member of your family could you please transfer her to me. She is my husband's aunt, daughter of Royal S. Colburn and Sarah Ann Sherman. Thanks.

I live in Erie and am working on a volume of grave locations for veterans of the Mexican War. I would like your permission to use the picture you posted of Moses Bentley's grave in this compilation. I will cite you as the source.

Hi there- I came across this page searching information on my grandfather. I didn't realize my Uncle Bill created these pages. Sadly he passed a year or so ago. I am going to try and work with the site to take over his profile and add his bio. Just thought I'd update you all. Thanks for all your comments.

Hello Bill, I want to let you know that I've added 3 photos to your memorial of Abbott Smith Griggs.
I'm not related, but I've written a little biography of him as a part of my history of East Aurora that I've written for family and also for the present owners of the Griggs mansion, Palmer and Sharon Pisle, who have restored it and operate it as "The Palmer House in the Griggs Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn" at 871 E. Main Street, East Aurora. They have 3 guest rooms with Aurora history theme: Griggs, Roycroft, and Fisher-Price.
The photos I've added are 1) Mr. Griggs sitting in his study at the mansion,(which is now the Griggs Room at the B&B)the original of which is in the Village Hall 2)his mansion in its original state 3)the mansion as restored. I hope you enjoy them. Of course, if you want to add more feel free to delete mine. If you're interested in my biography I'd be happy to email it to you. Carol

Are you still active? I've sent some requests and follow-ups to you, but have not heard back.

Hi, Bill, thanks for all the work you have done tracing members of the Griggs family. I just noticed that the parents of John L Griggs 1858-62 are listed as Solomon Lathrop Griggs and Frances Andrews Griggs. However, Frances died in 1850. John's father is Solomon Lathrop Griggs, but his mother was Elivira Brown Bagg Griggs, who was Solomon's 3rd wife. They lived together in West Springfield, Mass., which is where Solomon died.
(Solomon and Frances were the parents of Cathirine/Kathryn Griggs Sommerman Bartlett, who was my g-grandmother.)
