Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born March 10, 1940 in Hogansville, Troup County, Georgia to Herman Hanson Mattingly and Mary Lee Oma Crowe and the second eldest of seven children to Herman and six to Mary.

My primary genealogical interests include Mattingly and Crow/e and connecting lines. I am descended from Cezar Mattingly but research all of the Mattingly name. From the Crow side, I am descended from James Crow (1713) and his second wife, Grace Denson.

If you see a memorial created by me and the individual concerned is of your immediate line, but not of mine, I am happy to transfer that memorial to you in accordance with Findagrave rules. If you are interested in a memorial outside Findagrave limitations and you have significant information that will improve the memorial, please us the "EDIT KEY" and I will make those changes.

Thanks to all who have contributed to these memorials especially the corrections as accuracy is important.

You had Mary (Polly) correct. Her name was Bennett Tatman.....I do think we need to find out who exactly "Doc" was. and also Add Sarah ( sallie) Ann as one of their children...Thank You again for maintaining this. The Name Mattingly I just found in one of the papers sent to me from KY last year.

RE: Reference John A Davis family in Wellfleet
Hezekiah Woodward was also referred to as "DOC"
He is not My Hezekiah.....

You can find out more from one of his descendents Elaine, who's father was recently deceased FRANK HINTON in Flemingsburg KY. The Family Hinton's are all pretty much there. The Cemetery honoring REV War Vachel Hinton is there...and a memorial to him is there with My 4 X great Grandfather also named Hezekiah with Vachel's Second wife.
Elaine Hinton Logan is the relation from "DOC"

Vachel was buried over by the little two lane "Highway" going from Maysville, KY ( on the River) to Flemingsburg. His Son and daughter inlaw Molly Pitman-Tatum are buried on either side of his Memorial..which overlooks where he is buried under the Highway.

RE: Reference John A Davis family in Wellfleet
Hello William

Here is my Email address. Contact me there for a phone number.

I am on Revolution Radio in Studio B.

Another Hezekiah Hinton was the son of Vachel Hinton ( PVT Revolutionary War) and his second Wife, NANCY ROY

His first wife was Margaret Howard. They had about 10 or 11 kids. He married a widow Nancy Roy ( who had at least two grown sons) after the War ended. He and Nancy had two sons....and one daughter. I think a son may have been named John. Second son was also a Hezekiah and daughter Celia. Hezekiah married Molly ( Mary) Pitman Tatum or Tatum-Pitman.

Sarah ( Sallie) Ann Hinton daughter of Molly ( Mary) married John Anthony Davis Sr, and they had Mollie B. Davis who married Charles A. Smith
THEY Had THREE Sons...Two who died of the Spanish Influenza, as adults.( I can get you their names) and my Maternal Great Grandfather Abner Byron Smith. ALso, Charles and Molly ( Mollie) Smith had three daughters; of which I have pictures of them and their three brothers. One of the sisters was Ruby Smith....who's husband's name is in my record up in OREGON. Their Son had a daughter Jennie ( Married Name Wright) and they lived inParadise,CA and Jennie in Lincoln CA

I need to find out if you are related to John Anthony Davis SR and JR's and Sally ( Sallie) Ann ( HINTON) Davis? Sallie and John SR were my gr,gr Great Grandparents. I don't know how many children they had, but one of them was the Sister to Great Great Grandmother Mollie Davis who married Charles Smith and moved to CA.

RE: Mary Mattingly
Bill, I make mistakes all the time. Hopefully, I can catch them or have someone else catch them for me. I think our mistakes are minimal and the fact that you have put in so much effort to this "project" makes you an incredible resource to me and all who benefit from your work. I view the efforts we put in will benefit all future generations, and they can help clear up any "mistake" and help fill in the gaps.

Thanks again,

Marion L. Mattingly
I think the maiden name of Marion may be Jones. She may be a daughter of Robert Barnes Jones and Martha Christine Stephenson. She had a sister, Ruby, who married an Ogle. I have no other info other than Ruby was born on Nov. 20, 1905, in Yoakum, TX. She died in Ropesville, TX on May 23, 1960.
