|I have been doing family history since 1989. My grown children did cemetery pictures for show & tell in elementary school. I have family trees on Ancestry.com and other information not yet posted. If you have further questions, feel free to ask me.|

Thank you for the transfer of Brady Howdyshell. He is a "distant cousin" on a collateral line on my Howdyshell line.

This may be a strange request, but, please read thru. I belong to a group who are trying to place permanent grave markers on graves of Veterans. Subject person is one of these. He and wife Lydia have temporary markers on their graves. To do this we need three things. We need to know where they are buried. We have that - they are buried in Milwaukie Cemetery, Portland, Oregon. We have his service records and know he served in the Civil War. The third thing we need is a direct descendant to sign the request for for the VA. Upon their approval they will make and ship to us a marker. We will properly install that marker on the grave site. We set five markers in this cemetery in September of this year. My question to you is: Are you a direct descendant of George & Lydia or do you know of any? You posted a photo of subject on his Find A Grave Memorial. Hopefully you know of one of them. I await your reply! Sincerely David L Aten, Sr US Navy Veteran

Hi, I recognize your name from letters in my moms genealogy things. I now have them all.. mom passed away a year ago last spring... She is buried in Portland. She was 89. I was just surfing the net for info on my family and found this find a grave site and looked up Josiah.. and saw your name under the photo. I thought..."I hve that exact photo!" Did you get it from mom, or did mom get it from you?
Anyway, I just thought I would say hello... I want to evertually put all the information that mom had gathered over the years onto a computer program.... I guess it has fallen to me to do that, as mom never did learn to use a computer very well and didnt enter anything herself on the computer. that will be a good way to acquaint myself with all my relatives ....

I would like to know where you acquired the silhouette of Hannah Hackney and are there more silhouettes of other family members?
This is beautiful! And, of course, the next best thing to a photograph :) May I post this on my family tree at Ancestry.com?
Hannah was the mother-in-law of my 3rd great granduncle, Duran Turl Hunt, and one of the members of the Metzer Wagon Train. Unfortunately, Hannah died on the trail and never got to see what would become the family's home in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. I've been researching the Hunts and related families for a long time and have just recently begun to research information about the Wagon Train and other members who traveled with them.
Thank you so much for posting Hannah here!
P.S. Are you a relative?

I have added Eva's middle name. Are she and Harvey on Find A Grave, by chance? Thanks for the info.

Hello Candice, I couldn't help noticing that the father of your John Franklin Temple was Neadem Temples 1788 to 1875. I am searching for information on Needham H. Temples 1837 to October 20, 1820 in a Civil War military hospital. I have been told that Needham's parents were William and Lydia Temples. The resemblance between the names Neadem and Needham Temples is certainly striking. Is there any chance that the two men were related in some way? Do you know anyone who might know the location where Needham died? Some suppose that it happened at Camp Rogers near Holly Springs Mississippi, but we have been unable to locate any proof. Any assistance that you may provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much, Cathey

Wow Candice - I was very pleasantly surprised to receive the bio info for both of them. I've added it to each of their memorials and gave you credit there. Then I was surprised again to see that you entered great portrait photos of them both. I see from your member page that you've only been a member for a month. Wow again! You do quality work and it is great having you in the find-a-grave community. I hope I can return the favor. You've made their memorials complete to say the least! My best to you - Doug Sorensen
