FINDAGRAVE SERIOUSLY DISCOURAGES :
UNKNOWN BURIALS

If I post an unknown burial in 2001, and you research John Smith, and post a memorial in 2015, the correct cemetery with his info, who should keep his memorial? YOU, because I just willy nilly posted a memorial to have his name out there>>>>>

C'MON PEOPLE, DO THE RESEARCH
BEFORE YOU POST

I HAVE ASKED EVER SO KINDLY, FOR YOU NOT TO PUT COPIES OF THE MISSOURI DEATH CERTIFICATES ON MY MEMORIALS,
IF YOU WANT TO POST THEM TO EVERY ONE OF YOUR OWN MEMORIALS BE MY GUEST,
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE!!!
THEY ARE FREE TO VIEW ONLINE...
**This is not called howtheydied.com**

My main focus has been on Benton County Missouri, because my father's people settled there in 1859, and married into many different families; Carleton, Cook, Delozier, Boring, McMillin, VanHoozer, Chastain, Crouch, Mayhugh etc. They also brought a few different families with them in a wagon train, including; Sellers, Parker, Cate etc. Sometimes I take a few liberties with the OLD burials as to exact date of death, and Cemetery. I KNOW they are in buried Benton County, many of my ancestors were poor farmers, maybe never had a stone, and probably a few of them are at the bottom of the lake, because lets face it, before running water, you needed to live near water. Most of the small Cemeteries near water were "moved" by the Corps of Engineers.
Moved is a loose term, a cousin and friend who we will call Mr Chastain told me in 2009 when he was younger, and still living in Benton Co MO. He watched the Carleton Family Cemetery being "moved" They used a large flat bed truck and a couple guys with shovels, they would lift the headstone onto the back of the truck, and scoop one shovel full of dirt and throw it on the stone, then onto the next. NO bodies were ever moved...I am pretty sure this true for a lot of small family Cemeteries...
Back in the day, headstones were a luxury that few could afford, many field stones were used, but that burial would be lost within a few generations, as people moved away etc.
So if I have added an OLD burial that I cannot PROVE to you, so sorry...

Quality, not quantity...

I try to create memorials that will help family members find there loved ones final resting place, with as much info as I can find.
additions and or corrections always welcome

Believe me...You cannot satisfy all the people all the time, as hard as you try to be as accurate as possible, there will always be "the ones" who want to shoot you down...shoot your research down, just be plain negative...I choose to dust myself off and go about my task, because I know I am doing my best...
Sometimes when trying to link families together, when the graves are pre 1850, it takes a little guess work along with research...
Someone recently wrote me asking me if I saw the persons death certificate to prove burial in a certain Cemetery...The person died in 1839...REALLY???

**I do not respond to negativity**

RE: Jamestown
Here is a quote from the a current Yahoo new article on the discover:

"The four burial sites were uncovered in the earthen floor of what was Jamestown's historic Anglican church from 1608, a team of scientists and historians announced Tuesday."

The historic Anglican Church was in the James Fort site not in the location of the Jamestown Burial ground.

I agree with you that we should keep findagrave as accurate as possible, which is why I will ask you again to delete your memorials.

RE: Jamestown
No, You are incorrect! the graves were found at the site of the original Anglican Church and are not in the Jamestown burying ground. If you consult any of the many articles and videos on the matter, as well as the photographs attached to your memorials you will see that they are not buried in the Jamestown burying ground. You must delete your memorials because they are in the wrong place and were created after the ones I created. I am working on transferring the Rev. Hunt to the administrator of his memorial, but the memorial is not his grave. NOw that the grave has been found, his memorial should reflect the facts.
