RE: Pauline Sullivan
I know what you mean. I entered the sisters and brothers in the bio section of Agnes, too, because of the limitations of the linking. Glad to help. We're still trying to decode Agnes' headstone but we're having great fun doing it on Cemetery Oddities on Facebook. I actually volunteer at Oakwood so I just have to get into their books and do a little detective work to solve that little headstone mystery.

Chris Snyder

My name is Chris Snyder. I am a fellow Find A Grave member from Marshallville Ohio. My wife and I are traveling to New York this weekend for a little get-away and also to see some family history.

My 4x great grandfather was Lyman Whittaker - born 1805 in New Hampshire, died 1873 in Porter. He and his wife are buried in the Tower Cemetery. - My first question- is this cemetery accessible since it appears to be behind someone's house?

Lyman came to Porter in 1840 and was a carpenter.

My 3x great grandfather was John L Whittaker - buried at Oakland Rural cemetery.

born 1830 in New Hampshire

died 1882 while visiting my 2x great grandfather in Cleveland

his wife was Emeline Huntington Whittaker - I have been able to locate her grave

According to the source below- John was a town constable in Porter for 18 years.

Biographical and portrait encyclopedia of Niagara County, New York

page 476

Son Elbert moved to Cleveland and is buried there with my family

Son Fletcher Whittaker married an Esther Bale, owned a grocery store and was postmaster in Lewiston according to several records on

I am also trying to locate their graves.

Any assistance, advice, recommendations would be appreciated.

I know this is short notice. I'm hoping to visit the Porter Historical Society while in town.

Bill, this is WILHELM FREDERICK KOEPKE Jr. the son of IDA CREWE & Wilhelm Frederick Sr. he was born June 09, 1878 in GERMANY, married the former Louise Werth (she died Feb. 03, 1960) and the had 5 children per the 1925 census of Lewiston. Wilhelm was 41 years old when he died in Lewiston NY on Dec. 22, 1939, his obit was on page 17 of the Niagara Gazette. He is part of MY "CREWE" family and he is also related to MY "SIECK' family who have the largest stone in the St. Johns Cemetery. I'm going to add his obit to your site. Please add this info and mention it came from me. Make his connection to his wife also. His parents are buried in the St. Peters Cemetery at North Ridge located behind the church there. HE is a grandson of the CREWE'S on the back side of the SIECK stone. Thanks Grace

Gertrude Bodekor
I am trying to locate Gertrude Bodeker and wanted to hopefully confirm this person is she. The person I am looking for has the maiden name of "Graff" Born about 1903 in Tonawanda to Jesse and Mary Graff. Do you have any information on her maiden name or if at one time she lived in Monroe, Michigan? Phil Kohler

RE: Morris
Thanks, Bill! Sorry for all of the confusion initially between the two names of the same cemetery; I guess we learn as we go along. Findagrave is a such a wonderful site--thanks for all you have done to document the lives of all these loved ones!

I just went through my photos more closely and lo and behold I did get a photo of the Lane's grave; it was just very hard to read so I didn't realize I had it :p

Hi Bill,

I scoured section 5 for your Lane's but to no avail. I will go back when it's not freezing for a closer look. If it is not a standing headstone it may have been covered by the snow. Hope I can find them for you next time!

Take care

Robert Prefer
I'm writing to let you know that he photo of Robert Prefer's grave is showing with information about his son,Robert Jr. I don't think there is a stone for his son as yet. Robert Sr.'s grave is where my cremains will be one day.

I just wanted to send an FYI regarding some edits I sent - I do have obits and other material to verify the name spellings, etc if you need them. Thanks.
