|Bio and Links|
I began doing genealogy in 1991, about a year after my father passed away. I love spending time in cemeteries, with those that have gone on before us. I began this venture on F-A-G to help people, but lately I've had second thoughts because of the grief I get from some people. They appear to not want help, but would rather just make other folks' life miserable. I don't need that from anyone. That's not what help is about.|
I'm shocked at the low number of people who express their gratitude for photos taken in their behalf. Just like the ten lepers in the Bible that Jesus cured. Only one came back to say "thanks." I don't do this for the glory, I do it to perpetuate the memories of those who can no longer speak for themselves. However an occasional word of gratitude would be appreciated. Has it become too old fashioned to say "Thank you" to someone who does you a favor?
I strive for perfection. However, if I've posted something incorrectly, please use the "edit" tab and notify me. Be polite, don't grind it in. Don't hassle me about what's engraved on the headstones. I neither named the person, nor did I order the headstone, I just take photos and report what's on them. If this doesn't meet with your approval, you have every right to purchase another one for them. I have no desire to mislead anyone, if I created a memorial in a specific cemetery, you can rest assured, that's where the headstone is located.
I adhere to F-A-G's transfer policy. What's important here is that someone's memory has been preserved and perpetuated, not who owns or manages the memorial. If you don't fall within the guidelines, don't ask. I'm happy to add bio's or other tidbits deemed necessary to enhance someone's memorial. Anyone can add photos. Link parents through their children, not the other way around.
I am equipped to read the original style Memory Medallions. (It takes a special attachment). If you don't know what this is, go to www.memorymedallion.com and check it out. This is cutting edge technology. It takes cemetery research to the next level. Smart phones can read the QR code on the new style medallions. According to their advertising, each one contains information about the person to whom the device is attched. Worth looking "into".
My photographs are free to use for NON profit as long as my embedded copyright is left in tact.

I'm a retired teacher, so I know about lack of appreciation. The kids and most of the parents were great. I still keep in touch with many. But there were always a few parents who expected me to turn their children into geniuses and solve their lifelong behavior problems in one hour a day. The good ones make up for it. Keep smiling. We good folks outnumber the jerks.

How awful that people fuss instead of thanking you. You are providing a valuable service, especially for those of us researching family history and trying to leave a trail of documention for future genealogists. Your efforts are truly appreciated by most of us. Remember, not everybody's mama brought him up right. Ignore the jerks.
Thank you again for all you do!
