Photos: All gravestone photos posted under this account are copyrighted by me. Please receive permission before posting my photos to another site. Attribution to the photographer and/or Find A Grave is REQUIRED. I say this because I provide these pictures to you free and I want them to remain free. Some sites will steal these photos or charge people for them. I fight to keep that from happening and may issue take-down notices to any site that I find with my photos not attributed to me or Find-A-Grave, including Ancestry.com. I spend my time and money to help you find your family, I'm not interested in other people making money off me helping you.|
Most of my photos are geotagged. Remember, GPS isn't exact, but it sure can be helpful to locate a stone.
If I've been helpful in your search, I'd love to hear about it. Drop me a line and let me know who you found.
If you have connections to Decatur county, IN, please consider submitting something to the Decatur County INGen Web. It's another free site (that I pay to provide) that depends on user contributions.
Corrections: Even though FindAGrave is a grave registration site, not a genealogy site, I love to add information, fix errors and make family links, so please feel free to send them to me via the Suggest A Correction button.
Feel free to add your photos to all memorials. Your name and link to your profile will appear with the photo.
Transfers: If I have prepared a memorial for your family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Suggest a Correction Link located in the upper right hand corner of each memorial. In your message, please state your relationship to the deceased. I use the FindAGrave transfer guidelines as a starting point for transfers, but often grant transfers outside of those guidelines. Telling me you are "related" and "you have information to add" probably won't get a transfer. You'll have the greatest chance of getting an 'out of guidelines transfer' if you tell me something interesting about the person or your family's connection to southern Indiana.

|Elizabeth||Bertha R Shelton|
I just created a new record for Bertha R Shelton buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Evansville, IN. I did this before noticing your entry. Since Bertha is our relative and we have more complete information and links, I will leave it to you to consider removing her from your list.
|Anthony||Thanks for the Memorial Transfer|
Thank you very much for the transfer Even more thanks for your work of making memorials. Taking photographs and documenting our loved ones. Without generous ones like you, many of us would not know or never have seen who or where our relatives are.. Thanks again. ..Anthony

I just want to say a HUGE thank you for the beautiful pics you took for Hiram's memorial!
Thank you! And I am excited to see the nice obituary information for him too. Amazing- they finally spelled the family name correctly!
My old family info says his father is buried at Day Cem so I sent in an edit to link him. I have not added the info to the memorial yet but will be this week. And verifying the burial place for his mother.
Thanks again for the nice photos of his marker - and keep up the terrific work!
Cheers from Washington-

Thank you for the edit, I appreciate it.
|Donna Kuhlman||RE: Bartholomew County Poor Farm|
To my knowledge, there are no existing records for the Poor Farm residents; and Sanford does not have a Bartholomew Co. civil death record. Even if he did, the 1898 records did not include burial place. There WERE a lot of people buried in the Poor Farm cemetery; but Sanford's surviving children may have placed him somewhere else. They are buried all over--John and Hester Ann are at Bear Creek; Sarah Fowler Herring, don't know; Julia Fowler Cooper's at Little Sand Creek; and Richard Fowler is over at Milford. An Ancestry profile claims that Sanford's wife, Ora Marie Wagner Fowler, was still living in 1900, but I sure couldn't find her--not residing with any of the surviving children, not a resident at the Barth. Co. Poor Farm. You may have to just make Sanford a "floater," unless or until something more definitive turns up.
|Monica Cantrell||Jesse Michael|
Do you by any chance have any of information on Jesse Michael. I am trying to connect him to a Jessie McMullen who was his wife. He was her second husband. Before him she was married to a Harry Francis Peats. Thanks.
|Carolyn (Smith) Szafran||James Swarthout|
Would you happen to know if his second wife is also busied in Hayden Cemetery or have a phone number so I can contact them? Her name was Phoebe Rose Hazen Swarthout, born 1873, died 1944. Thank you.
