Before creating a memorial, I do a general search (including, but not just limited to cemeteries), to see if there is already a memorial entered for that name.
Duplicates can happen due to first-created entries (including ones with Unknown/Incorrect disposition) being missed, or ignored altogether when found.
I do NOT have the attitude of "Yay, I win, you lose, I found the grave first". If I find correct disposition information for an existing entry, I send it to the memorial manager.
Out-of-Guidelines transfer requests were once considered (as a courtesy), but I have discontinued that due to a really bad experience with another "contributor".
I have a soft spot in my heart for veterans, and believe that they deserve our thanks and appreciation.
My beloved late father ❤️ was a World War II combat vet, and I couldn't be more proud of him!
The individuals memorialized on Find A Grave meant something to somebody, and I do not take that lightly!
All "Virtual Flowers" that I put on memorials are genuine, and from the heart, whether I knew that individual or not.
I was raised with good manners, and I require good manners in any Find A Grave correspondence sent to me!

If your Find A Grave messages even have a HINT of being:
✔Abusive ✔Demanding ✔Disrespectful ✔Falsely Accusatory ✔Harassing ✔Inappropriate ✔Nasty ✔Offensive ✔Rude ✔Slanderous ✔Smart-mouthed ✔Threatening, etc
(all of which came from one particular "contributor"),
If the deceased was never married, the surname belongs only in the Last Name field. If there was a marriage, and they took their spouse's last name, then their Married Name would go in the Last Name field. THE LAST NAME FIELD SHOULD NOT BE LEFT BLANK, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!
Click on the "Edit" tab on the upper right of the memorial, and then click one of the options under "Suggest a correction" to submit additional BONA FIDE details, and/or links to the memorial manager.
Please do not enter SAC information through "Leave A Public Message", on a "Photo Caption", or as a "Virtual Flower" on any of the memorials I manage.
There is an allowable 30 day time frame to act on SACs, so one notice to me is sufficient.
I am getting way too many SACs from Find A Grave "Visitors". Make sure you are logged into Find A Grave before sending me SACs.
Please state your source(s) when sending me additional information
You may want to consider putting memorials in "Virtual Cemeteries", as they are great ways to keep folks "together".

Francis Higdon
Hi Kathy
Thank you so much for getting back. It was really lovely to find someone who's father served with the 325th GIR. Last year I wend down to the west country and found the airfield where he flew from on D Day. There is a museum run by local enthusiasts and I got loads of pictures. I would love to share them with you, just got to figure out how that is done.
Like I said I have spent years researching Francis, and with the advent of decent internet its amazing how much information is out there.
The problem I now face is the 70 years that have passed since his passing. He had no wife or children, and both his brother and sister have now passed away. I would love to find a living relative but I must say that its proving to be an impossible task.
Even if I did find a relative the chance that anyone would have any relocation of him is extremely unlikely
Good luck with your project.
Kind Regards
P.S. Did your father service the war and was he based in the west country? The airfield was called RAF Uppotery.

Edward Nelson Hackney
You had left an edit for Edward Nelson Hackney with a known death date. My great grandmother was married to him and they never knew what happened to him. She died in Montrose, Colorado but his body was never found and she was left to raise their family. I'm sorry that I approved the death date in a group of edits only to tell you that the edit would not be possible. I live in Montrose and he definitely did not die in Montrose, Colorado nor are his remains here.

Best Regards,
Donna Hebein

Hi Kathy- Greensboro has a burial index for the three city cemeteries - non for Union. George's burial site is
GREEN HILL Section: 32A Lot: 30 Grave: 2. I will try and look for it next week.

Thanks for telling me about the duplication of the memorial I had created for my friend. To keep it simple, I added his photo and a note to the one created by Beth Austin and deleted mine. She did have the cemetery location which I had not had access to. I appreciate your letting me know!

I have taken a photo of both Arthur and his wife Jane.
Hope this helps for additional information that you are searching for.

RE: Tracy Edwin Tarr (#51449758)
I have used that web site many times.
The names on that web site are there because someone has applied for a military marker for the deceased. At the time the application was made that is where they said they were going to be buried.
The family may have changed there mind after the marker was ordered and they buried him somewhere else and placed the marker there.
This is one example. Forrester, Jepty born 1924 died 2002 is buried in Holly Hill. If you look him up on the National Gravesite locator you will find that it says he is buried in Union Memory Gardens at 32 Hospital Street. Union Memory Gardens is on Ledford Road not Hospital Street. Jepty was never buried in Union Memory Gardens.
The National Gravesite Locator does not list all veterans, only those who are buried in a veterans cemetery, or those who's family applied after 1997 for a military marker for a private cemetery
You need to read the information below the search boxes.

RE: Tracy Edwin Tarr (#51449758)
Thanks Tracy,
I have sent a edit to find a grave to have the address added to Holly Hill Veterans Park.
I find it hard to believe that someone applied for a military marker and never had it placed on Tracy Tarr's grave.
Thanks for your help.

Francis J Higdon
Hi Kathy
Thanks for all your hard work with regarding the location of WW2 serviceman. I came across the memorial to francis j hidgdon. I would like to try and find out more about Francis because he was a friend of my late grandfather. Would you have any idea of how that could be achieved.

Kind Regards

Carl Benson.
