PLEASE do not take my photos (family pictures or grave photos) and use elsewhere, especially Ancestry, without my permission. There's personal family photos I've never even uploaded to Ancestry but have ONLY placed on Find A Grave that have been taken and put on other's Ancestry trees, and they aren't even related to us!! Really??????|
Much of my work is from "mowing the rows" in our local cemeteries or in those that are special to me when I get a chance to visit. I try to be very thorough in what I do post to this site. My favorite part of contributing to Find A Grave is walking the cemeteries and taking photos. I also utilize available records for my entries and hope to either photograph later myself or have other contributors photograph these graves, as I have photographed theirs. ACCURATE cemetery documentation is very important, and this is why I do what I do.
I love to research and link families, and add biographical information - please use the Edit tab and send me any information you would like to have added, and I will add based on the rules for bios set in the Find A Grave FAQ's, which includes rewriting obituary information facts so as not to violate copyright (pre-1923 obits excluded).
I transfer only within the four-generation
PLEASE carefully check the cemetery in which you want to list a memorial (it doesn't hurt to quickly check the county too) BEFORE you list it, as one may already exist for that person. Duplicate memorials for the same person, ("Dupes"), whether accidental or intentional, are not allowed by F-A-G. Duplicates erode the quality of this site and are problematic for many reasons. I will send you a friendly SAC if I see one.
It is very sad that quite a few contributors continue to misuse this site and post entries as permanent BURIAL UNKNOWN, both recent deaths and those 100 years ago or more.
This is Find A GRAVE, not a memorial site for generations of folks who have passed on and we do not know where they are buried, or for certain what happened to their remains.
I do not add entries for those with unknown dispositions (Burial Unknown) to Find A Grave. I also will not link my managed memorials to those without proper dispositions. Please do not link any BURIAL UNKNOWN entries to the memorials I manage; I will request the links to be removed if I become aware they have been linked.
PLEASE realize this is a GRAVES REGISTRATION SITE, not a place for you to build your family tree :) If you do not know where the person was buried, or the final disposition of the remains, you should not be listing the person on FIND A GRAVE.
The most recent FAQ's regarding the purpose of this site:
What is Find A Grave?
Find a Grave's mission is to find, record
and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience.
Memorial contributions to Find A Grave should fulfill that mission - registration
of the final disposition. If the memorial contribution corresponds with only the
main mission,then the memorial fulfills its purpose as part of Find A Grave's mission.
Find a Grave memorials may contain rich content including pictures, biographies and more specific information. Members can
leave remembrances via ‘virtual flowers' on the memorials they visit, completing the virtual cemetery experience.
Find A Grave is a resource for anyone in finding the final disposition of family,
friends, and ‘famous' individuals.
Find A Grave is definitely a genealogical RESOURCE, but not a genealogical SITE..... There's a difference :)

To Karyn Buckner Garvin:
Thank you for calling this to my attention and I have deleted the listing.
I have taken over a very large list of Obits and Information for the local cemeteries from an elderly member of the Yucaipa Valley Genealogical Society who recently passed away.
I am trying to post them to the Find a Grave site so that relatives and friends may find them or perhaps get a reference of where they can go for more information.
We also have a member that has been doing a wonderful service of recording the individuals that are laid to rest in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park cemetery located in Calimesa, Riverside, CA area.
I am sorry this happened, but appreciate the opportunity to correct the duplication.

I deleted Samuel and Nancy Thompson and requested the manager of the existing Samuel and Nancy [144377290 & 144377644] at the Thompson Family Cemetery which is miles away to move them to my cemetery per Cemetery Census http://cemeterycensus.com/nc/alam/cem016.htm . It looks like they have done it while I was typing. Thanks for straightening out these cemeteries.

I would love to fulfill your photo request but this cemetery is HUGE. Please call the office and request the section and plot #. Then please place that info on the plot section of your memorial.

Thank you for your time. May I use the Photograps you posted for Bethlem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pickens County, South Carolina on my Family Trees? Thanks again for your time.

|JohnTwig||Thanks for suggeston|
Karyn, Thanks for your recent suggestion concerning Ellen Cotter. I have been able to find the correct cemetery and have corrected to post.
My dilemma was I was working with a family of 8 siblings from Ireland -- five of whom had immigrated to the U.S. My primary goal was to be able to link these five siblings. Is there a way to do this without having their parents' information?

|Dear Cousin||RE: David Messer - Confederate Mound|
You are welcome! Glad to help. Gary
The two Find A Grave for Avra was done by Crackers and Leroy Hanson. The Memorial added by Crackers seem to be the correct one buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lamar County, Texas. The reason I believe this is that it is also listed in The Lamar County Death and Cemetery Records.
Mr. Leroy Hanson has passed away in 1912 I believe it said. Crackers site has an obit. I do not want to cancel it. Don't what can be done with his site.
