I have lived in Honea Path, SC, all of my life. I want to help people connect with their pasts while I learn about mine. All grave pictures that I post are my own work. You have my permission to use any of them in your own private records. I put a lot of time and effort into them, please do not use them anywhere else without asking first.|
I haven't added many memorials, but I welcome corrections and additional information for the ones that I have. Please use the edit tab to submit any corrections. I can also be reached by e-mail or through facebook. Both links are in my FAG profile.
I photographed all marked graves in the Honea Path City Cemetery in the spring of 2013. It is beside the Presbyterian Church and is often mistaken for their cemetery, so it is alternately listed as Honea Path Presbyterian Church Cemetery on FAG.
Because of two earlier family trees I have lots of info about my paternal line. I have only had to bring them up to date and fill in some missing details.
Names in my Paternal line:
Green, Simpson, Chastain, West, Freeman, Elrod, Whitlock
On the other hand, my maternal line has a lot of blanks in it. My maternal grandfather passed away when I was 11 months old and my maternal grandmother passed away when I was 10 years old. I have a few names from what my mother remembers, but there very large gaps as well. I have filled in some blanks because of FAG.
Names in my Maternal line:
Grace, Hurt, Bales, Twiley/Twilley
I came to FAG because, like so many others, I lost someone close to me. Please visit my dear cousin Kristie. We were only 17 months apart and she was one of my best friends growing up. I could always count on her to tell me the truth. We drifted in and out of touch in adulthood, but I always knew where she was and I know that I could have called her any time day or night and she would have been at my side.
On September 6, 2012, some dear friends of ours lost their 16 year old son to a blood clotting disorder. He was a seemingly healthy teenager who played football and was a boy scout. He was posthumously awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by the BSA Blue Ridge Council and Troop 5 in Honea Path. Please visit Ben Jordan and show him some love.
My second cousin Bonnie Brazeal Suell compiled one of the family trees that has been my most treasured resource. She did genealogy the old-fashioned way. She spent countless hours traveling to libraries and courthouses to sift through microfiche and microfilm. She compiled and typed "Our Green Family," an almost 100 page document with over 700 direct descendants of William Green. I have since added almost 1,000 additional names along with countless details to what she started. Please visit and leave her a token of appreciation for her tireless work on "Our Green Family".

Thanks for letting me know. It's a wonderful ending for her after losing her 1st husband so very young.

You're very welcome. I didn't research it because they are not my bloodline, but I wonder if her husbands were related in some way. They are both Williams. I think they probably are. Maybe brothers or cousins.

Yes, Amy and I are 2nd cousins. Necia and my daddy, Robert Elbert Sapp, were siblings.

Hi Shelley. Thank you for the information on Mrs. Watson. Her memorial has been up dated. Take care and have a great week. Patrick

Shelley, thank you for the information on this couple. Leroy is my 1st cousin once removed and has been a challenge. I think you are correct that they seem to be interred in the other cemetery. I have requested photos on those memorials and will compare before I delete my memorials. I've made a note on them in the meantime. Thanks for setting me on the right path!

Thanks Shelley!! When I saw the memorial, it was ell under the 20 pics allowed since it was sponsored, so I contacted site administrators to get it opened up for a grave photo. I don't know what happened to the others, but thanks for posting that!

Not a problem. Also, I just wanted to give you a heads up that I found recently that at least one member who'd added quite a few memorials to cemeteries in the area apparently decided to delete a large number of their memorials - since I wasn't keeping track of my photo count, until I was looking for a memorial that I *knew* I added a photo to, I didn't even realize they were gone.
I don't know if you're in the habit of deleting the original photos after you post them or not, but if you are, I'd recommend against it. It was a huge lesson to me that my file naming habits I'd had needed to be changed, since I think it's taking me twice the time to find out what memorials need to be recreated and what photos need to be re-added as it had originally!
