I send a big THANK YOU to all contributors, your efforts are a tremendous help to us all.|
The above photo includes some of my family names. I am descended from numerous pioneer families when West Tennessee and the Missouri Bootheel were wild lands. My earlier ancestors originated from VA, NC, GA, PA, DE, IN & IL.
The dates on some photos I have posted may be hard to read, click on the photo to view a larger image. I may still have a cleaner version of the photo, I will happily provide digital images of photos I have taken, just send an email.
I prefer to transfer memorials to family members and family friends who will take care of the memorials, please use the Edit button on the memorial. If you have changes/corrections, I will be happy to make them if you submit through the Edit button, then the Suggest A Correction feature.
Have fun researching your family history!
In the hope to prevent duplication of TIME, EFFORT and MEMORIALS, below are updates of Cemetery Recordings.

I photographed all the headstones and created memorials on the website, sadly about 40 headstones are too badly eroded to decipher the inscriptions. Click on the Request A Photo button if you would like a photo.

Thank you for photographing her tombstone for me.

I also did a search on line for all first names of Virginia in Oaklawn Cemetery and came up with the same results. Without a death date in my personal records or a sir name of any kind, I guess I'm stuck for now. Too bad that I can't access census records for 1970. I have one other chance of finding out anything. I have an aunt that will be 90 in a couple of weeks that lives in Calif. that might know something.
I have a list of all my mothers cousins on her father's side, but only have married names for about 3 out of 7 of them. Thanks anyway

Thanks, Scott, for the photos
|Bob Leader||RE: Gertrude Burdette Transfer|
Sorry, Scott! I never knew Virginia's married name. I never knew why Gertrude ended up in Florida, either. Her husband, James Calvin Burdette (memorial# 54935171) is buried in a cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina where I knew that Gertrude lived for many years. (He died in Apr. 1963 and it was sometime after that, that I met my great aunt Gertrude.

thanks, Scott, for adding these photos at Oaklawn
|Sean Willman||RE: James Tuell|
Thanks. I will have to do that.
|Bob Leader||Gertrude Burdette Transfer|
Thanks for the transfer of my great aunt, Gertrude (Campbell) Burdette, (memorial # 104487105). And thank you for the photo of her grave marker. It is very much appreciated!
I met her a couple of times back in the 1960's when I was a teen. Did you happen to notice if she is buried near her Daughter, Virginia or her son James C. Jr.? James died in 1957, and Virginia was born in 1917, but I have no death date for her. (She may still be alive).
