Born and raised in Sacramento, CA; now residing in Placer County. I'm a retired secretary and a long-time genealogist.

I don't know why the picture isn't posted for the cemetery. Looks fine to me. Wonder what's going on.
Looks a lot better than the Placer County Hospital cemetery photo they decided to use of the chain link fence and just a dirt road can be seen. But that's the way it is. Nothing fancy there for sure. Do you need a contact address to send and ask Find A Grave. I'm attaching a address with this message. If it doesn't show up I will mail it directly to you.

Congratulations! I know what you mean about loving a good hunt.
The Balmain's transcription says that they had a baby, 6 months old at Eliza's death and one year at John's. I wonder what happened to it. How sad to be orphaned so young.

Duh--you're right about DOD, not DOB. :-( I hope you can find something. I struck out on ancestry.com.

Thanks for checking, but I'm sure these Halls belong together. If you look at http://www.cagenweb.com/placer/NewsItems/1873Newspaper.htm you will see that the names match. And they are about the same age--she was born in 1875 and he was born in 1876. Further, the Balmain transcription says John was h/o Eliza.

That is quite a article. I really appreciate your passing it on to post. The Hidden Treasure mine was owned by the Powell family that is interned in the Old Auburn Cemetery. In fact one of the daughters is named Treasure. Nice to put the pieces together and get a idea of how things were. I can't believe how much this guy traveled. He was one busy dude! Thanks again so very much. You're a dear!
I work everyday on these memorials and sometimes feel so much is left to do. I just take it a day at a time. Keeps me out of trouble, most times!
