Bio Photo THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

The Dobsons and Chapmans of Massena
It seems you have done almost the entirety of the Calvary Cemetery in Massena, that is incredible, and will be such a valuable resource for so many family historians and genealogists! In the same family, you have also created some wonderful memorials for my Great Aunt Yvonne Boucher Chapman, her husband Wilfred, son Bernard and daughter Clairette Chapman Morrissette who married Leo Morrissette, as well as my Great Aunt Rose Dubreuil Dobson and her husband Frank. Would you be willing to transfer those as well? Thank you so much again!

The Sweeneys of Massena
My goodness, you also have beautiful memorials and pictures up for my Aunt Rolande Desjardins Sweeney and her baby daughter, Sharon Anne in the same cemetery. Thank you so much! Is there any way you would be willing to transfer them as well?

The Leaches of Massena
Hello,
I wanted to say thank you so much for the memorials you have placed up for my Uncle Frederick Leach and Aunt Lucille Desjardins Leach, buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Massena! The pictures are phenomenal and greatly appreciated! Is there any chance you would be willing to transfer management of them over to myself? There is actually a double connection in my family, with Frederick's sister being my grandma and Lucille's brother my gramps that I would like to establish as well as a few tidbits to add. Thank you so much again for the amazing work you have done!

Sincerely,
Mike

Barnhart Family
Dear Thelma
I was in Massena last weekend looking for the graves of Barnhart and Sheldon Families. could you please help is there a list of those moved from Barnhart Island and when. Were the bodies moved as well? The graves inside the metal fence are they from teh Island and the rest were always there what is the difference.
also No sign to let you know Pine Grove also holds the All Saints graves. Possible site map would help.
Charles Sheldon was postmaster in Stouffville for 4 years and I believe fled during the 1837 rebellion so he would not be arrested. Any or info would be most appreciated.
Thanks Fred Robbins Stouffville Historian
